I hate cooking, absolutely hate it, except for the very odd occasion when I find it enjoyable. Fortunately for me, DH loves to cook and is the gourmet chef in our house. He goes through our cookbooks each weekend and plans out the meals he wants to cook for the week and has at it. Bless him, he works 11 hr days 6 days per week but still comes home and cooks fancy meals every night.

When we don't cook, we usually order in Indian, Italian, or Thai, or we run down to the twice per week night markets on the beach right outside our place and grab some food to go there. Every once in a great while we'll order pizza or even more rarely, be super naughty and run through Maccas.

If it's just me on my own, I'm happy with cereal or popcorn and some yoghurt or mozzarella cheese.

@TurtleDoves: a sandwich with pickles and a dr. pepper sounds delicious!

My favorite easy go-to for lunch is a turkey sandwich with wholly guacamole spread on it. It's a super mild guac so it is perfect for sandwiches... I LOVE IT!

@ms.janedoe: I find Ramen delicious, too! I hadn't had it in years, and then a couple weeks ago I decided to snag a few bags. OMG. IT IS SOOOOO GOOD. Crack an egg in it..... to die for!

Ehhh...it depends. It's tough because DH travels like, 80-90% for work, so he's rarely home.

Breakfast and lunch are always at work for me (I keep oatmeal/granola bars/fruits/etc. at work for breakfast and usually have a frozen meal/sandwich/leftovers/etc. for lunch). If DH is gone, I really can't justify cooking for myself, so dinners are usually pretty basic...grilled cheese and soup/butter noods/ramen/mac and cheese--all of which are totally fine by me because I find them delicious.

If DH is home, he usually gets back late, so the first night we'll usually order a pizza. The rest of the weekend ('cause that's usually when he's home) we'll grill and cook for dinners. Lunches are usually a sandwich of some kind...mmm. If he was home more, I know for sure that we'd cook more, it's just lame having to buy, make, eat, clean up, then deal with leftovers for just yourself!

@AuntieEm: This too! After preparing food for the 4 of us (already not my favorite task), spending twice as long to eat than DH & G bc I'm feeding P & making sure she eats enough (since she still doesn't feed herself much) I do NOT want to clean! Boo!

I don't like cooking, but try to do simple things.

Tonight we had BBQ hotdogs, salad and corn on the cob.

Tomorrow we will probably have BBQ chicken, salad and a veggie.

We will usually go out 1-2 times to sit down place, and sometimes get subs. We are trying to cut that out though because the amount we were spending on eating out is sickening!

I actually like cooking... I just have no time!

I don't know if this counts but we do a lot of just grilling pre-marinated meats and steam veggies with rice... A LOT! This takes like 20 minutes flat.

We have started to do family pack take out which we will eat for a few days b/c we suppliment with our own sides and rice.

We like pizza too... but we haven't done that in a while.

I don't cook often at all (maybe 2-3 times a month). I don't mind cooking, its the clean up afterwards. I even like cleaning in general, just not after cooking and eating. After a nice meal I just want to relax, watch TV, take a walk, etc. So I dread having to clean up.
Fortunately, DH could care less about home-cooked meals! So we order in quite a bit. We live in NYC so there are tons of options and some pretty healthy ones too (grilled chicken & veggie kabobs, etc). I'd say we actually go sit down and eat somewhere 1-2 times a week.

We used to live in NYC and London and almost never ever cooked. There was just so much good food to be had either eating out or take out. Moving to the suburbs forced us to cook because there aren't nearly as many appealing options at our fingertips.

Whats your definition of often? I literally don't cook on weekends. I don't know why.
If dh isn't going to be home for dinner, I won't cook then either.
So, I cook 4 out of 7 days of the week.
When we're busy..it's less.
I get take-out...but not from a fast food place. More like a deli.
I'll get a baked chicken, then i'll grab a thing of hummus, and i'll grab some bagged salad or macaroni salad for dh from th deli.
Things like that..
rarely do I just order a pizza.
Sometimes, i'll do easy meals...like tuna sandwiches with a pickle on the side and a Dr. Pepper :)

We pick something up, call in orders, or I snag a pizza.... I HATE cooking, like despise it! I thought that *having* to cook like I did for the majority of P's first year would help (protein intolerant to many things), but it hasn't! I hate that I dislike it so much b/c we spend WAY more money eating out & I feel like crap eating junk. I'll generally do go for a week or two & then all the next week we'll eat junk b/c I just don't want to cook anymore.

I know, it's horrible! I just don't know how to *like* cooking! :(

...Where do you get your food? Do you go out to eat? Do you get takeout? Frozen pizzas? Does DH cook? Your mom?

Mrs. Wagon's post inspired me to make this thread, since I can't imagine not cooking very often! We don't have the $$ to eat out, and we want to eat healthy so our only option is really to cook at home. I'm lucky that I really enjoy cooking. :)
