My daughters hands are always freezing. As long as their chest is warm you're good! She only sleeps in a sleeper (she's 10 months, been Unswaddled since 3 mos). She even sleeps on her Tummy with her hands underneath her and they're still cold!

I actually knew immediately she had a fever (104) last week because her hands were on fire!!!

We used fleece sleepers, and if it was really cold (like the times that our furnace broke), we co slept.

@Pumpkin Pie: my husband was (and still kinda is) obsessed with the idea of LOs hands being cold at night, so we bought all the sleepers with foldover cuffs we could find. I think Old Navy had them up to the 9 month size. I got a pair at Children's Place, too.

Like these: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=145552002&tid=onpl000005&mkwid=PaET6WCf

OK. Good to know. I was just so worried about her little hands being so cold, but I guess it's fine!

@Pumpkin Pie: No. Babies have poor circulation so it isn't uncommon to have cold hands/feet. Our ped told us not to worry about cold hands or feet. I don't think a baby will get frostbite in a 68 degree room :) And it never seemed to bother her.

The rest of her body seems warm. I'm just concerned about her hands. If it's OK that her hands are cold, then I'll just carry on. I put her in a halo sleep sack.

@Mae: when your LO's hands were freezing, you didn't do anything different?

We have a space heater to keep her room at 68 degrees and we put her in a footed sleeper and a fleece sleep sack. When we first started unswaddling her I felt the same way-- that her hands were freezing! But they aren't now 2 months later (although I just realized that when I read your post). I wonder if their bodies learn to regulate temperature better or something when they have to? Not sure but I know that at first her hands were freezing every morning and now they are not.

When we moved to sleepsacks with DS I noticed his hands were so cold. I kept cranking the heat until we were are all practically sweating. Turns out, his hands just run cold at night. We find his neck is a better indicator of his temp.

We used sleep sacks some, and also switched to fleece pj's early. I do remember someone (pediatrician? Nurses at hospital? My mom? Can't remember) telling me hands are not a good indicator of warmth and cold hands are ok. I always felt her core areas when she was little, and now too, to get a sense of whether she needs more layers.

@Pumpkin Pie: They are supposedly restocking next week - if you sign up for their emails they'll tell you when. We're debating getting a second because when this one is in the wash sleeping is hard!

I used sleep sacks. But I think for babies you don't necessarily go by the feel of their hands. Is her chest cold? I think I remember reading that their circulation is not as good as adults so their hands often feel cold even if they are warm enough. We keep our home and 70 too and my boys have been ok with the sleep sacks.

The small size zipadeezip is not in stock. Any suggestions on how else to keep her hands warm? It doesn't really seem to bother her, but I'm afraid it's too cold for her and she may get sick.

If you don't swaddle, what do you use to keep baby warm?

I just started swaddle weaning and leave both arms out. When I go to nurse her in the MOTN, her hands are freezing cold. We keep our house st 70 degrees, so it should be warm enough. Any ideas on how I can keep her hands warm?
