I like the idea of the "Santa Sack" where the gifts from Santa are placed in a burlap sack like he just dropped it off.... We always do a mix of wrapped and unwrapped.... Occasionally my mom would even pull a present from the fireplace that got "stuck" in the chimney.

This is the first year we're doing a Santa present that my son understands to be from Santa, so it will be unwrapped, with a big bow on it.

I grew up with unwrapped santa presents and my brother and I would have different areas of presents with the big unwrapped presents being the focal point and our stockings laid out in front.

Gifts from our parents were under the tree and wrapped.

Ours were never wrapped and set up in our own piles (although since I only had 1 brother, it was easy to distinguish his from mine). It was exciting and overwhelming because my parents definitely went allllll out. There was usually 1 wrapped gift from them (typically a combined gift, like Nintendo or something) and everything else was unwrapped from Santa.

My sister's Santa presents were always on the rocking chair and mine were always on the couch. Nothing from Santa was wrapped. YES it was overwhelming running in and seeing all those toys at once, but that's the point! That moment, to me, is the epitome of childhood Christmas excitement. I was always just as interested in what my older sister got (if not more so), so I would run back and forth between our two piles checking everything out.

Never even heard of wrapping stocking stuffers!

After the Santa frenzy died down, then we would have breakfast and sit down and take turns opening the wrapped under-the-tree presents one at a time.

Each kid has a separate pile (last year was on the couch, but we have moved so we will have to figure it out this year) with their filled stocking in front of their pile. Last years set up:

[attach=2453/15/nzdk88.600x593.image.jpeg]
It wasn't overwhelming growing up but it was what we were used to. I LOVED walking into the living room and seeing my pile all laid out! It's funny because I think if they were all wrapped it would be so underwhelming!

Well for us it's not like all the gifts are unwrapped so there is definitely still the thrill of unwrapping presents! Santa just leaves one big present. last year and this year it is a joint present but I'm sure when they are older they will get separate gifts. Growing up, we had our designated spot by the tree and Santa always left our gifts in the right spot.

We will do what my parents did - 1 large present from Santa, setup and ready to play with so the LOs can play while mom and dad sleep a little more. Then a present or two wrapped under the tree from DH and I.

We grew up with stockings from Santa (always left with a pile beside...), and then everything under the tree from people/parents, wrapped. Somehow my husband's family grew up the same way...

See, our stockings always had all unwrapped things! Most of the gifts were wrapped (from both Santa and my parents) save for anything un-wrappable like a bike, dollhouse, etc.

I grew up with a mixture and do the same with my LOs

Stocking stuffers are wrapped and placed in the stocking on the couch....beside it are wrapped smaller gifts (ie stuff that can be easily wrapped) in a Santa bag I got off Etsy, and the big gift is on the floor by the stocking unwrapped.

We will do what my parents did. Stocking stuffers wrapped and in the stockings, and then santas 'big' gift unwrapped a steady to play with if there is assembly needed. Our stocking were always laid down in front of the fireplace with your bigger gift in front of it.

They are just displayed under the tree. We do big hard to wrap gifts from Santa, like for example, this year Santa is bringing a play kitchen, food, shopping cart, etc.

We're not doing Santa this year, but my mom always arranged everything so it was ready to be played with - as in doll house set up and dolls through out the house. It was always really exciting to walk down the stairs in the morning and immediately see the scene of toys Santa left.

Gifts from my parents were wrapped and I think stockings had wrapped trinkets (stockings were also in a different room) We'd normally do Santa gifts, stockings, breakfast, and then open family presents.

Growing up Santa never wrapped presents and we don't wrap Santa presents either.

Growing up our filled stocking would be on top of our Santa present pile.

My kids have the PBK anywhere chairs and we put their stuff on/in front of their chairs. Santa's gifts are usually things that don't fit under the tree (trike, play kitchen, doll cradle, etc), so it makes it much easier to not wrap.

In our house Santa leaves 1 gift per girl (now that there are 2 of them.) And it's still exciting for them, they come out of their room and it's like "OH MY GOSH!" but we still have presents from us for them to actually open.

My parents' only did one gift per kid from Santa. Gifts from parents were wrapped and under the tree Christmas Eve. Stockings were filled and Santa gifts were displayed in front of the fireplace Christmas morning. Each of out gifts had our own special stocking next to it, so no names.

how do you display them? My aunt never wrapped but we never saw her set up (always went later in the day, and found out as late teens/adults she didn't wrap). I'm curious because the thrill of seeing all the mystery was half the fun! do you put labels on the unwrapped gifts, too, or hide certain things under others or?

is it overwhelming having them all unwrapped to begin with? I like the idea of it (green!) but I don't know if I can give up the whole mystery & excitement thing :P
