Not sure if this answers your question or can make you feel better about your supply, but my LO naturally weaned around 14 months and it took about 6-8 months for me to completely dry up. I'm sure supply was low but there was definitely milk there so if your LO is going through a nursing strike I'm sure you can bounce back.

Not sure about this, but last night I made these sesame noodles for dinner and woke up SO engorged. Like when the milk first came in engorged. Maybe worth a try, lol?

Simply combine:
1/2 c tahini
1/3 c warm water
3 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp roasted sesame oil
1 1/2 tsp chili paste

And toss with a pack of rice noodles. If you have them around you can garnish with julienned cucumber, mung sprouts, or chopped scallions.

Google seems to support the sesame hypothesis. Good luck!

@Chaosmaven: It's technically possible but very unlikely at this point! :) Just the thought of being pregnant right now is kind of terrifying! Lol

@fussygal: While the chances of this are probably slim, could you be pregnant? A friend of mine who seemed to be having supply issues and weight gain issues with her LO turned out to be 6 weeks pregnant!

@KT326: I recently started taking fenugreek and blessed thistle. I think they're helping a teeny bit. Other than that just lots of water and oatmeal :)

@fussygal: That sounds frustrating. Have you tried anything to increase your supply? I drank mother's milk tea for a couple weeks while I was still pumping during the day and I noticed a slight increase.

@KT326: That's encouraging to know that you could still breastfeed to some degree for a few months! She's 8.5 months and wants to eat all the time but there isn't much there. Sometimes I wonder if it's low because she always wants to eat and is keeping it really empty, but even after a few hours of not feeding her she still empties me pretty quickly and is super frustrated that more isn't coming out!

@jojepie: no period yet - knock on wood! :) I was thinking it might be ovulation related but I thinks it's gone on too long to be that.

DS had a nursing strike at around 10 months. So I just stopped offering the breast but I kept pumping until he turned one. I was down to pumping twice a day then anyway. However, earlier on at around 3-4 months, I did notice that my supply dropped when my period started up again. Maybe that's what is happening to you now?

How old is your little one?

LO had a little nursing strike around 8 months. He was just too busy to have any patience for breastfeeding. He was getting bottles at daycare so he would want them at home too. We were able to nurse first thing in the morning, at night before bed and during any night wake ups for another month or so. During that time I decided I was done pumping at work because he was refusing to eat the frozen breast milk. I had a low supply for awhile but by 11 months he had completely weaned himself (though I didn't push to stop him from weaning).

How long did it take? Was it sudden or did you continue to have a low supply for a while? I'm still not sure what's going on with my supply but we're going on two weeks of having issues and I'm just so frustrated. I wish I knew what was going on :(
