We eat organic at home, but we eat out too and let LO eat whatever's being served if we go to someone's house.

We just let it go too. It's not that often anyway. He gets meals from his daycare, which aren't always organic. They provide milk but I always bring in organic milk for him. It's impossible to avoid non-organic foods anyway, especially with all of the playdates/birthday parties/etc!

We just let what happens outside the home happen. But we do volunteer to bring snack at school as often as possible, so I know she's getting healthy food on those days :)

I plan to feed my son as healthy as possible at home and educate him on *why* we eat this way and hope he makes good choices when he's away from home. But I won't be mad if it does. I don't want "splurges" to be a common thing though - he'll probably attend 5-10 birthdays a year, plus holidays, plus this plus that and that equals to monthly or even weekly "splurges". I'm still not sure how I'll address it yet.

I won't mind him eating non-organic as long as it's washed but there are some things I will have issues with even as splurges... things like McDs. We NEVER eat there and never plan to. But I'm sure he will have a friend who has a party there at some point in his life..

To some extent there is an attitude of "let it go" however I adopted this attitude as well for myself and I've noticed how easy it is to employ if when I don't feel like making healthful decisions... so I really want to be careful to create a healthy balance. I don't want to be that overprotective mom to the point that he resents me and the way we eat, but I also want to instill the "whys" into our diet and lifestyle.

I try not to sweat it. We eat organically at home as much as possible, but when we're out, I don't stress about it. I figure we'll try to eat as healthy as possible!

You let it go. Strive for 80% organic and you'll be doing fine. At least that's my theory.

I mostly feed LO organic at home but don't sweat it outside of home. She eats food from daycare and it's not organic either. I do bring in organic milk for her, though. Or else they provide milk, too. It saves me so much time not having to prep her lunches that I really don't mind that it's not organic!

If you eat organic or if your family is on a special diet like Paleo, what are you going to do when your lo goes off to school or friend's houses? Do you just send them with your food and hope they don't end up eating something not organic or something not on the Paleo diet? Do you let them splurge when their friends have parties at McDonald's or at movie theaters and they want a happy meal or some movie theater popcorn?

This came up in a conversation I had this weekend with my husband when we were grocery shopping and looking at two different bags of apples - $5 for non organic, $9 for organic.
