I also was hypoglycemic at the 3 hour mark. The midwife said the snickers bar the night before totally made me fail. In any future pregnancies, I will be sure to eat better the night before. I know I'm in New Zealand but I'm pretty much self-managing my GD and just ring my diabetes nurse if I'm having issues! My midwives were pretty hands-off and it was really refreshing, especially with the rates of inductions/c-sections for GD patients at other hospitals in the area. I asked the nurse about what happens, and she said I would have more frequent monitoring and more growth ultrasounds. I don't know my practice's on going past 39 weeks or not. So far, I've gained 17lbs at 28 weeks, and the midwife was really happy with it. I asked about it and was told that I would not need to be induced and that they would not do ultrasounds to check size unless there were other concerns. My GD was managed through diet. I delivered at 40w3d and was not induced. H was 7lbs. 10.8 oz. when she was born. I delivered with certified nurse midwives at a hospital with a low induction/c-section rate in my area. The good news is that the diet isn't that bad, and I found that I could eat almost everything. My husband is diabetic, so I already knew a lot about what I could/couldn't eat, it was pretty much everything in moderation. If my breakfast was very carb heavy (like pancakes), then my numbers two hours later would be a little high. But I failed my 3-hr. in the second hour. My glucose was not coming down as fast as they would like it to. Long story short: I don't think your burger and snickers yesterday affected your numbers today, unless you ate them at 3:00 this morning or something. Or if you are getting sick, your glucose numbers will be higher. I know that would have been failing in several different places!
