Ok this is making me feel a lot better! I mean, I'm going to be healthier and not have a brownie AND ice cream every day, but I feel better than maybe I'll just gain slower after this. Also now that I'm not nauseous all the time I can drink plain water, where for the first three months I could only handle sweet drinks like lemonade and soda- fine once in a while but not all day.

thanks, ladies!

I gained more right away with my 2nd pregnancy, but it leveled off by the 3rd trimester and I ended up gaining about the same amount somewhere around 35-40lbs. It took longer to lose the weight the 2nd time, but I was back to prepregnancy weight at about 5 months PP vs. 3 months with first pregnancy. And that was without trying to lose, only bf'ing and eating whatever I wanted.

I gained the most weight during my 1st trimester with DS. All I craved was carbs so the scale went up really fast. It evened out during my 2nd, and I was told to gain more during my 3rd (totally different issue we found out later).

I gain a lot with both. Doesn't matter what I eat, if I crossfit, if I lift weights....I gain 50-60 lbs. It comes on hard at the end, but a lot of that is fluid (I dropped 30 lbs in the first 3 weeks this time). 20 by 20 is about what I gain, too. I actually gained 3 pounds of muscle, too.

It comes off, slowly but surely. Not overnight, by any means, but 2 months PP, I'm tracking macros again and working out (and BFing) and it's coming off easily for now. I imagine I'll have my body back by Thanksgiving

I gained a lot in my first tri with twins - about 12 or 13 lbs I think. I'm sure I was at 20 lbs by 20 weeks. Halfway through the 2nd tri I slowed down a lot. Then halfway through the 3rd tri I started picking up again as the babies were growing quickly. My twins were small (born at 4lbs 15 and 5 lb 15 oz at 38 weeks) but I only ended up gaining 35 lbs total. Losing weight after was no problem, but I was nursing twins so my weight loss situation was different than most!

I found that I gained most of my weight in the second trimester. I think I gained maybe a few pounds in the first trimester and probably about 18 in my second trimester. I've been weighed at my biweekly appointments in my third trimester, and I've gained a total of 2 pounds from 28-34 weeks. So I definitely slowed down a lot!

If you gained a lot early in your pregnancy, how did the rest go? Did you do anything that worked to keep your weight gain in check later on?

I realized last week that I gained almost 20 lbs by 21 weeks. I only gained 27 total with my last pregnancy, but I also started off heavier. I'm not totally stressing about it, but I do know that a lot of that weight gain is due to unhealthy eating, in addition to the first trimester carb fest and lack of activity (the carbs and laziness were unavoidable, because I felt awful, but I've been feeling better for weeks and haven't changed much).

So I'd rather not gain way too much weight (duh) while staying healthy about it all. I'm making sure to limit my sweets again, and walk more than drive like I used to. Interested to hear your stories, positive or negative!

Also thinking about getting back to normal after delivery. I was really lucky and dropped the weight and then some after my first (yay breastfeeding!) but I know it can be harder the second time.
