I think I could have even gotten away without an epidural under normal circumstances, but baby girl was sideways, and my back pain was unbearable.</p> <p>My sister needed both, though, with an epidural. I feel like she wasn't really trying hard enough though (I was in the room). I had an epidural (long story, but 3 epidurals and a really exhausting labor) and I pushed for 3 hours and he never crowned. They never saw the top of his head. So the doctor placed the vacuum and he popped right out in 3 pushes or so. </p> <p>Then my daughter (second) was induced and I had an epidural turned to spinal cath (another long story..) with her she was crowning away immediately and I pushed her out in 15 mins! Probably could have pushed her out in the first push but the doctor was still preparing.
