I knew how to be "infertile" I didn't know how to be a happy pregnant person. I didn't let myself be happy or excited for a long time. You are so conditioned to the ups and downs, and well mostly bad news when it comes to infertility that it can carry over into pregnancy too. Even though we lost the twin at 9 weeks we still have had all good news since then. </p> <p>There were a few things that started chipping away at the rock hard protective barrier I created that has allowed me to start believing this is real. 1. Finding out the sex, it allowed me to really connect and imagine our future with our baby more. 2. my growing bump and a huge one is feeling movement. So reassuring. And lastly, today having a great and normal anatomy scan was my biggest sigh of relief yet. I still have milestones in my head that I am praying to reach but I feel like I can finally feel like a normal pregnant person. I can plan a nursery and register and smile at the thought of having a baby this time next year. But I don't think my "infertility scarlet letter" I wear will ever really fade away as long as I am still in the years of creating our family. I am so thankful for this baby growing but I already can't help but think what our future will be like when it comes to adding more children someday and what we will have to go through again.</p> <p>I am so hopeful for you @FliegepilzHut! Of course I then got diagnosed with GD really early and had some pregnancy complications. </p> <p>But after a while of being pregnant the IF and the chemical pregnancy faded from my mind. Tomorrow we have my son's first birthday and IF is not really something I give much thought to these days. Necessary? Yes. My "new normal". I guess so.</p> <p>I'm just wondering...at what point might all this give way to REAL normality? Or, to ask a different way, at what point does IF stop being a critical part of who you are and what you're doing with your life??? </p>
