We miss a lot of games, unless they're locally broadcast on the stations we pick up with our digital antenna. We looked into the MLB subscription through their app, but our local games are blacked out. We can't watch the games at all because they're shown on a cable station here. Lose lose!

If you want to stream them online, you can use firstrows.eu and it gives you all the major sports and lets you select which game you want to watch. I'm not 100% positive it works in the US (I think it does) but that's how I watch American football when I'm overseas.

@Ra: We don't have cable because it is disproportionately expensive up here, but we have the same problem. :( And we get zero local channels. Look and see if there is a package like @Little Misters Mom: noted that would allow streaming of the games. We like watching football, but have no loyalties or care if it is NFL or college. So we have NFL Rewind. It allows you to watch every game, but we have to wait until the official broadcast is over. (Which, for us is awesome, because midnight on the east coast is 8 pm here.)

Plus, we can watch a commercial-less condensed version, which totally spoils a girl. No crap commentary and the game only lasts 35 minutes.

Yep, what @DillonLion: said, you need an antenna. As long as you're only concerned about local teams that will work just fine. Although finding the right antenna can involve some trial and error. And if your TV is old, like not a flat panel, you'll also need a digital converter box. But that's unlikely.

DH has a subscription to MLB online which he streams through the Roku. Also you can cancel cable and still use rabbit ears to get a few local ABC/NBC network stations which should play many of the games. Not sure how that works with the blackout rules but better than nothing.

Most are broadcast on the digital free air channels. You just need an antennae

I wish I had the solution because this is my exact problem!! If not for sports it would be so much easier to get my husband to agree to cancel cable.

...how do you watch local sports?

We really want to get rid of cable and go the netflix/hulu plus route. My husband is a diehard baseball fan and is hesitant on pulling the trigger because he's not sure how he will watch all the local games (we have season tix, but it's not feasible for him to go to all of the home games).
