Ideally we will love even closer to the beach in the future. It was a big deciding factor when we bought our last house. Then for 6 years, a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. We then moved over 2 hours away and we missed it so so much and realized we had to raise our kids closer to it so we bought a house a mile away from the beach! I can't imagine being even an hour from it again! I went to college nowhere near the ocean and it was fine because I still came home in the summertime anyway. Now we are about 30 minutes from the closest beach and a little over an hour from where I grew up. We still normally go to the beach near my parents. I couldn't live more than an hour away long term.<br /> @Adira: There are definitely either lake or ocean people. I just can't do lakes. We went to New Hampshire in the summer growing up and the lakes just freaked me out. I get spatially disoriented when I'm too far from it. I'm in Southern California and we've talked about moving to Scottsdale or the Denver area. But I couldn't ever go farther than that and it would be a tough move.
