It took me 5 days & we had to supplement & never stopped. For others finding this thread via Google or whatever, I do wish I had nursed or pumped every 2 hours around the clock from day 1. Just keep putting T to the breast since you have colostrum and things should keep going. But if your lo is acting ok and you're getting wet/dirty diapers, I really wouldn't worry yet. My colostrum was there right away, but since X was slightly jaundiced, slightly dehydrated, and lost a full lb within the first few days we were at the hospital, we had to do the nurse-SNS-pump thing until my milk came in, and my instructions (they gave for all moms who wanted to breastfeed) was to offer the breast every 2 hours *at least*. When my milk did come in once I got home, it was a TON. At this point their tummies are so tiny the colostrum is enough. I had a c-section and I think my milk came in on day 4 and my LO was perfectly fine before that point. It's completely normal for them to lose weight right after birth and not a reason for concern at all - Vi lost 10 ounces and then rapidly gained it back when my milk came in. It was hard to tell because I never got super engorged. It seemed to slowly change over from colostrum to milk. And then one day he wouldnt eat because my letdown was suddenly so forceful I was spraying milk too hard in his mouth. We never supplemented, just put baby to breast a lot. I wouldn't pump this early for fear of causing an over supply. Let him cluster feed as much as he wants and that should help!
