I had kind of a pulling pain under my scar on the right side, it lingered for over a month or two. My OB said the operating OB must have been standing on my right side (he was!) and that the muscles/tissue got pulled harder on that side because of where he was standing. It did go away eventually!

Could be adhesions/scar tissue. Even if the scar on the outside feels okay, think of all the layers of fascia and tissue that were cut through. You could have deeper adhesions on those areas.

I had some occasional abdominal pain that felt like a muscle straining when I sat up certain ways for up to 3 years after that I always assumed was deeper scar tissue. It all went away after the birth of my 2nd. Maybe it all got stretched out?

@kitty: I have had pain like that, it wasn't the c-section itself, it was a trapped nerve that happened during the c-section. It only bothers me if I do strenuous ab work. Maybe talk to your OB about that possibility?

I haven't had any pain like that. I've had three c-sections.

@kitty: What does the pain feel like? I've been having some pinching (though my c/s was a few years ago) near where my scar is, under the skin. Dr thinks it's a cyst and wanted to wait to see if it resolved itself. If you google ovarian cysts, see if any of it sounds similar to what you're experiencing?

@pastemoo: yikes, doesn't sound pleasant! Were the adhesions inside the scar, or like on the uterus?

No. Around 2 months post partum I had pain I would have described like yours ( worse with certain exercises) and went to my Doc. Adhesions, yuck. Did some painful massage (I forget how often) till it stopped happening.

@Blueberry: the scar itself is totally fine and it seems to have healed well, it's more in the flesh or whatever underneath. Good to hear that it's probably normal but I'll keep an eye on it

@kitty: is the area around the scar particularly tender/painful or the whole lower abdomen? I had pain around the scar during my second pregnancy because of the stretching. Maybe it is your physiotherapy.. I'd say it's normal but if it continues or gets worse I'd definitely ask the doc. :)

Did you have any aching or pain in the long term? I'm 5.5mo pp and I've been having some aching right behind my scar, almost like period pain but in a really specific area.

I am also doing physiotherapy to build up my core again as I had a lot of separation lower down so I guess it could possibly be related to that.

Is it just a normal csection recovery thing, my period returning, or something else? Or nothing :silly:
