We decided to share DD2's because we were very sure right away, had multiple other pregnant relatives and didn't want to risk "losing" it, and also to get DD1 used to it. Turns out everyone else is having boys! And DD doesn't care! But we were so sure, it just felt good to share this time. I didn't want to hear any negative comments, not that it would have changed my mind, but no one really says anything negative after baby is already here! If people asked, I just would say, we aren't quite sure yet. I could tell and can still tell that some people don't care for her name, but that's okay with me because I love it and it fits her to a t! We knew that was his name, and didn't care what anyone thought. With #2, we were between 2 names and didn't decide until she was born. We didn't tell anyone the name choices because we didn't want anyone to 'away' us one way or the other. People got so upset that we wouldn't share! Plus we were TG and wanted to be able to change our minds after we met the baby and found out the sex. Even after she was born we waited a couple of hours to make sure her name felt right before announcing it. We will probably do the same this time, only we will find out (and tell people) the sex. Partly so we can change our minds, and partly because it feels like, until the baby is born, it's only me and dh's. Once it's born we have to share with the world. Or something. I totally agree that it's a little annoying though. It helped make the babies feel more "real" to both us and those close to us. We wouldn't have told if we had been to two names though and we're waiting to see them before deciding - I didn't want anyone to weigh in. Since we were definitive about our choices no one gave their opinion. I'm honestly not a fan of when people know for sure but don't tell and make it a big secret. It seems very silly to me. We didn't settle until after he was here. We don't know the sex of this one yet, but we're pretty set on a boy name and a girl name, but we're not planning on sharing beforehand...just in case we change our minds :silly: Plus, if it's a girl, we're giving her an extra-special family name, and I think it'll be extra-special to share it once she's here.
