I've seen this situation at a home birth before, and I know it's effective. I had pitocin and I am fairly convinced that is what was the problem. Talk to your midwife about what she has if there is a problem. We talked with a midwife this year as I am trying to convince my hubs to have another baby and a homebirth. She has a number of meds she can use to stop a bleed. I didn't have hemorrhaging during birth though. I did for a couple days a week or two after birth. So glad it was brief and not major.
