Ours spit up until 12months+...ugh! Cleaning it out of the car seat is the WORST.

We liked these: Aden+Anais Bamboo Burpy Bib
http://www.amazon.com/Aden-Anais-Bamboo-Burpy-Tranquility/dp/B00A0XDVTE/ref=sr_1_6?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1400687531&sr=1-6&keywords=aden+and+anais

360 coverage and absorbent.

We also burped her leaning forward against our hand, over a towel, instead of over the shoulder..

We layered up on burp cloths. More often than not, I had spit-up on me, somewhere, everyday. My lo's daycare teachers started bringing in extra-extra changes of clothes just because of my kid...hahaha.

@fussygal: not us! For example: it is 11:00, I am not even in a bra, and I am about to put LO on her fourth sleeper of the day. Sigh.

This is SO us. We just have a ton of burp cloths and towels stationed around the house. DD is especially spitty in the morning. Sometimes I'm amazed at how much comes out. Everything I've read says it isn't as much as it seems, but I swear this is a ton! We both have multiple outfit changes per day and I'm forever doing laundry.

@LuLu Mom: @LovelyPlum: This is totally me right now, too. Who needs shirts?! ;)

DD is almost 6 months and has gotten a lot better (well, until the massive quantities of drool from teething started bothering her tummy) but there are still days here and there where I just smell like puke. When she was younger, I lived in a bra, yoga pants, and bathrobe at home and only got dressed right before we went out...and also learned to live with being slimed regularly!

@LovelyPlum: I may have said something similar to DH today when DS puked on me right as I was getting up to put him in the car seat to leave!

@LuLu Mom: haha I did that a lot too when I wasn't at work (DS comes with me so I'm still at risk for spit up at work). DH tells everyone our living room has become a shirts optional area :silly:

Thanks for the advice and support...at least I'm not the only one walking around smelling  Our ped said he would grow out of it at some point like you all have mentioned. We've definitely had the multi outfit change days (especially this weekend when he blew out 3 diapers and spit up on 3 different outfits!). It looks like I need to get even more burp cloths/bibs and just expect to smell like baby puke for the next couple months :bummed:

Wish there was an answer to this and then I would be doing it. You just have to resign yourself to lots of outfit changes for you and baby.

I have no advice, because I am going to be covered in baby spit for the rest of eternity (drama much? ;) ) we took a bunch of blankets from the hospital, and we use those as burp rags. I have overactive let down, too, but we are working on positioning while she eats. Just wanted to say you're not alone!!

Spitting up could also be a sign of oversupply. You could try to pump just until your first let down and then latch baby on to see if it helps.

I had the ultimate spitter, and really the only thing that somewhat helped was a bib constantly and lots of burp cloths within reaching distance. But in all honesty, we switched clothes 5+ times a day...and sometimes I just sat in my bra when I was home alone...I was sick of laundry! ha

Both of my kids were extremely spitty so my heart goes out to you. I tried to use cute bibs whenever possible and I just had a ton of rags -- the ones I used most were the little ones that are like terry on one side... not sure what they're called but I just basically waited it out and they grew out of it when I wasn't looking :)

What did you do (if anything) to help prevent wardrobe changes for you and LO?

DS is 2 months old, EBF, and has been spitting up a lot since about 6 weeks. We talked with our ped about it and she said it sounds like we have a "spitter" because he's gaining weight perfectly...he just spits up a lot. We've tried leaving him upright for 10-15 minutes after nursing but he usually pukes all over me while burping. I think I have an overactive letdown, which might be part of the issue. I have a bunch of Gerber prefolds that I use as burp cloths but it's usually pretty runny and gets all over DS's face and hands and then gets on me. I have some bibs, but I probably need more. He spits up at random so wearing a bib is probably best for him, but I'm still being puked all over! Is there another burp cloth you found soaked better than the prefolds? Or covered you more?

I would like to leave the house without having to change or smelling like baby puke!

(Hopefully this is the best board...I wasn't sure where to put it!)
