As soon as I felt up for it (like within a week) we went for walks outside in the stroller or moby. And we went out to restaurants early, but I would only sit outside, both for germs and noise. Grocery store and target within the first month too. I just kept her in the car seat or moby.

However she was not one of those babies who slept through everything. I actually nursed through most of those first meals out.

My first was born in June, and we went out for walks all the time pretty much immediately. I didn't realize how much it helped my sanity until number 2 came in the middle of a stretch of single digit weather.

We went to the dog park the day after she came home from the nicu. Then just about our lives. It was way too nice to hide out.

DS was a July baby and was borderline with having jaundice. Pedi just said to sit by a window with sunlight to help so we would go into our backyard and walk around for him to catch his vitamin D's for a few minutes.

This kid's due in early may and I plan on sitting outside quite a bit with him when the weather is nice.

We had a June baby in NC (HOT). We would sit outside in the shade in the mornings and afternoons when it wasn't oppressively hot. It was so nice to go for walks with her in the infant seat (attached to the stroller) on our shady paths, too!! Having a summer baby was really nice. I didn't get my tan I typically get but I sure enjoyed being able to hang out in tank tops and shorts and not care. :)

We took her to get ice cream in July. We didn't have a toddler getting warm-weather cabin fever at home either, though!

Both of my kids were born in the summer. We took them out as soon as I felt ready physically after giving birth - with 3 to 5 days for both. They slept in their car seats for the most part when we were out. I just didn't let other people hold them unless they were family and had washed their hands first. Neither of the kids got sick in their newborn months.

Besides dr appointments, I took DS out at 9 days. I desperately needed a nursing bra and sleep bra! My mom was with me so she drove since I was still super sore from my stitches. DS was born at the end of March so while we still had some rainy weather (in CA) on the nice days we would sit out on the back patio or go for walks. It was really nice!

LO was born in August and we took her out to lunch often. I think the first time was when she was 3 days old. She'd just sleep in her car seat and we'd cover the seat with an A&A blanket. I didn't take her to more crowded places like library story time, planes, get togethers with friends, etc. until she had her first round of shots, though.

Had a late April (warm here)baby and took her out to go to the Dr and run errands the first week. We went to friend's houses and restaurants at 3 weeks.

when did you take LO out?

DS was born in Nov and we live in MI where our winters are cold and long and dreary. Plus my mom didn't want us to leave the house for three weeks (Korean custom). We only left for doc appts/pharmacy. I think the first time I took DS out alone he was 7 weeks and we went to the grocery store. I took him to a baby shower the week after.

I'm looking forward to even just sitting in the backyard with our July/Aug nb baby!
