It was on and off for me but a chiropractor and a belly support helped a lot.

@Pirouette: I find for me that what helps is doing lots of hip circles in both directions, "rolling" them forward and backward (think creepy hip-thrusting grandma) with my legs wide like a frog, and one my husband says looks like a crab: spread my legs wide and try to roll/lean from left to right so my hip flexors and quads get to stretch. I look hilarious, but feel sooo good. Haha

I had SI joint pain up until a couple weeks ago and now its more in my upper back like around my shoulder blades. For the SI pain I laid on a tennis ball with direct pressure on it and it seemed to loosen it up.

I had awful SI joint pain for my whole pregnancy- honestly, it was brutal. It got better at the end of second tri, and then worse again when baby shifted posterior. Unfortunately, it resulted in horrible back labour for me, but the good news is, the pain went away completely as soon as she was born. No back issues now!

I had a bad pinched nerve around 15 weeks & started going to the chiropractor. I've continued going twice a week & it has helped sooooo much! For the first time since I was 14 I have been able to go longer than a week w/o a headache & the adjustments have done wonders on my lower back and hips. If you decide to see a chiropractor make sure you find one who is certified for prenatal care.

I had terrible sciatic nerve pain in my first trimester, and then again in the middle of my third. Prenatal massage and exercise were both really helpful. I went into my induction at 42 weeks being back pain free for a few weeks, actually.

@sarbear: ha people can't seem to leave a pregnant woman alone!

@evansjamie: a chiro is something I've been thinking about, but I'm not sure how much it would help with this type of pain...

@indi: I am actually sitting on one right now! I just got it, but I'm not really sure how to use it yet...any stretches/exercises you recommend on it?

Mine isn't that severe, but I've found that sitting and stretching on an exercise ball really helps me to feel better. Do you have one you can try out?

I started having awful hip and low back pain at 29 weeks. I started going back to the chiropractor and saw great improvement. I'm 38 weeks now and am still relatively comfortable and able to walk without pain, something that wasn't possible 10 weeks ago.

@Pirouette: it was awful, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. My heating pad was my BFF. Oh yeah, people would tell me all the time, 'sit down, it'll feel better' no, no it won't! Now leave me the eff alone haha

I hope it goes away for you!

@betsyboop: that's encouraging... I'm still doing lots of stretching so I'm hoping that will help! I dance so that is mostly stretching, and I definitely feel better when I'm active than when I sit all day.

@T.H.O.U.: I think I can handle coming and going...just not persistent!

I had pretty bad back and sciatic pain from about 13 weeks until I gave birth :( it was so bad that I couldn't sit for too long in one spot, or would take a few minutes to get up if I was on the floor too long playing with my son. When the anesthesiologist did my spinal he just touched my lower back and i jumped and it brought tears to my eyes it hurt so bad. He said he had never seen anyones back be so tender. It has definitely gotten better in the 7 weeks pp, but still hurts on occasion

@Foodnerd81: so you're telling me there's a chance?! :) I'm guessing the pain could be from my ribs expanding...so they have to finish expanding at some point right ;)

I had back pain during my 2nd trimester but it pretty much disappeared during my 3rd trimester. I did a lot of yoga and stretching but when my sciatic nerve was bothering me, there was nothing I could do. Hang in there!

I had awful sciatic nerve pain at the end of my second trimester, and maybe halfway through the third she must have moved and it went away for the last two months. Your pain is different but I say its possible it will resolve.

Was it constant once it started? For the remainder of your pregnancy? I had been having such an easy pregnancy symptoms-wise, and all of the sudden a few weeks ago I started having middle back pain...and now it is literally agony every single night... I just started the 3rd tri, am I destined for it to just get worse and worse from here on out? any tips for pain management? The pain is even with my ribs, more on the right side.

I've tried to adjust the amount of stuff I carry, and rearranged my desk to make sure I'm not straining at all, and those changes have helped a little... But I'd like to not have to run for my heating pad as soon as I get home from work each day :)
