I was induced, which led to a c-section 3 days later. I experienced full-on pitocin contractions from 7-8 cm when the epidural wore off. That's enough for me! I don't ever need to experience that again!

Since I had lots of complications with labor, if I ever do it again, I'm going straight to c-section.

@Mrs. Carrot: The cervical checks were the worst and they are even more horrible when they tell you that you aren't progressing!

My entire pregnancy I was so excited to experience going into labor and I always wondered when and how it would happen. I ended up being induced and I did experience some contractions for a while before needing a c-section, but it just wasn't the same. I did have a great surgery and recovery though so no complaints there.

If I have a second baby, I am going to attempt a VBAC so I can (hopefully) experience going into labor naturally.

@Mamaof2: Ditto. I had to be induced early due to IUGR, and while I would have liked not to have had kiddo show up 4 weeks early and be small, I didn't mind having a c-section at all. I remember how painful the cervical checks were during the induction, which never progressed into labor, and thinking that if I did go into labor, I would be a horrendous patient.

I had 2 c sections and experienced labor with the first one. My second c section (3 days ago) was a bit complicated so that made it difficult but my recovery seems easier so far and I'm grateful for that. Labor plus c section really beat me up last time.

What about those who experienced labor but got csections lol...

With my twins, I went into labor on my csec day, so for about 10 hours, very hungry, I waited to try vaginal but ended up w csec because there was almost an emergency csec. Heart rate went down but went back up but they said just to get the csec so I did. W the 2nd pregnancy, I went into labor same day again! But we just stayed w the csec. W this one, csec again. I have zero desire to go vaginal lol. Going into labor definitely sucks boodie lol.

Umm yes! I wish I could have felt at least one labor pain. Partly, to share in that full pregnancy/ birthing experience and the other part to confirm it was time for LO to be born. When I was hooked up to the machines monitoring the baby and I the nurse said I was having contractions, but I felt nothing. To me feeling labor pains signals the baby is ready to make his appearance. While I had a good c-section experience, I still feel like I evicted my baby.

Nope, not at all. I've had two scheduled c-sections and my third is in two weeks. With my first, we scheduled one due to GD, large baby, and previous medical issues. He ended up being very stuck with a huge head and my OB said it would've likely ended in a c-section anyway. My second was a RCS and I have no regrets. Both of my experiences were very positive and I had no reservations about scheduling my third (and last) one for this pregnancy. I can definitely understand why some women would feel like they're missing out by not going through labor/delivering vaginally, but I personally don't feel that way at all.

My situation is a tad different, I got to 10 and pushed for 3 1/2 hours and my daughter was stuck/she went into distress/I got a fever it was an emergency C-section. DD2 they offered me the option of VBAC and I said no. I guess though I've had the experience so it's a bit different, it was not fun recovering from both vaginal and c-section that first time and I did not want to risk doing that again.

Nope. First was a 36 hour failed induction into emergency section. Spent 2 hours on super hard pitocin contractions before I called for an epidural. I was destroyed by the time DS1 was born.

Second was a scheduled RCS. It was so civilized and calm.

Not that I have a choice but if we had another, RCS FTW. I recovered easily from both surgeries. No regrets.

Part of my birth plan was that I would not be upset if I had a section. I understand what you are saying but on the flip side since I had a vaginal birth the idea of a section certainly seems to have its benefits.

I went into natural labor with LO1 and ended up with an emergency C-section. While the not knowing and going into labor spontaneously was exciting, that quickly wore off with how painful the contractions were. I fully admit that I couldn't handle them well. Once I had my epidural, things went better, but then the emergency C-section was scary, and I think back to his birth as a traumatic experience.

With LO2, it was very calm and lovely. I knew exactly what was happening and when it was happening. He was a scheduled C-section, and it was a pretty amazing experience. So I had sort of the opposite effect.

I was induced the first time and because I was 5 weeks early, my body was not ready, and it ended in a medically necessary C-section. I had a scheduled C-section with my second daughter and I have absolutely NO REGRETS!

I was induced the first time and resulted in a medically necessary C-section. My second was a scheduled C-section. I have no regrets about not experiencing natural labor/birth. It was something I absolutely feared about being a parent. I was okay with pregnancy, but never okay with the birth process.

I didn't have a choice for the c/s with my first, so I was sad it wasn't the experience I thought it would be. I was able to have a successful vbac the second time around and it's cool to be able to have both experiences. I preferred the vbac because it was overall less traumatic and recovery was so much better. But, if my c/s experience had been more pleasant I don't think I would have minded it as much.

I was induced with the first and got to experience 28 hours of labor. The 2nd I had a c section scheduled and went in to labor a week before it was scheduled. I labored but due to birthing circumstances we chose to do a c section instead of v bac. Natural labor vs induced labor felt totally different. Both painful in there own ways.

I had an induction at 37 weeks due to medical reasons which led to a c section. I will always need a c section going forward so I'm a little sad that I'll never get to experience naturally going into labor. Waiting at home for contractions to pick up, water breaking on its own, etc. That seems like a lot of the excitement and I'm just curious about how it feels.
But, I also like that everything will be planned going forward - I like knowing.

I had a c section with my first son, and while I had a totally fine experience and I wasn't really upset by it (I had been hoping to try for a natural birth but I didn't have my heart set on it) I was sad that I never got to feel what a contraction was like - I would have liked to have experienced labour, even if I didn't get to experience delivery. When I got pregnant again I was excited that I'd get to have a chance but then I had another breech baby and another c section.

Does anybody else regret that they didn't get to experience labour?
