H was 7 pounds, 10.8 ounces and had no issues with her blood glucose. A GD diagnosis is not always indicative of a large baby and not a reason to induce at 39 weeks, but it's something you should discuss with your doctor (this is what my CNM told me). I had no additional monitoring of baby but I'm sure I would have if they felt I needed it. ETA: my practice would allow me to go to 42 weeks before induction, same as if I had not had GD. I was diet controlled and allowed to go to 41 weeks if I didn't go before. Both kids were healthy and not affected my by GD after birth. We are hoping for a med-free vaginal birth, but know a GD diagnosis increases the chance of cesearean.
