My GD was diet controlled and my 9lb 12oz wee guy was delivered vaginally at 40+5 after twelve hours of spontaneous labour. And I totally agree with @avivoca: , GD isn't / shouldn't be any reason to need a c-section unless there are other indications of complications.

I went into labor naturally at 40w2d and had a med-free vaginal birth. H was 7 pounds, 10.8 ounces and had no issues with her blood glucose. A GD diagnosis is not always indicative of a large baby and not a reason to induce at 39 weeks, but it's something you should discuss with your doctor (this is what my CNM told me). I had no additional monitoring of baby but I'm sure I would have if they felt I needed it.

ETA: my practice would allow me to go to 42 weeks before induction, same as if I had not had GD.

Vaginal, went into labor on my own at 40 plus 2. I was diet controlled and allowed to go to 41 weeks if I didn't go before. LO had no issues after birth, she was 8 lbs but that was more than likely genetics not the gd, my hubby was almost 5 lbs at 8 weeks early.

Went on my own for both pregnancies (10 days and 6 days early) and delivered vaginally. Both kids were healthy and not affected my by GD after birth. I was able to control my GD with diet alone, and both kids were on the smaller side (5 lbs 13 oz and 6 lbs even).

I ended up with a c-section after 20 hours of labor and almost no progression. I don't know how much of it was caused by GD and how much may have happened anyways.

I'm going in for my glucose test today. We are hoping for a med-free vaginal birth, but know a GD diagnosis increases the chance of cesearean.
