When I switched practices, my OB was confused by this. I hate the drink, so I asked if I could start monitoring my levels on my own. Since I knew how to properly test, he was fine with this. It was a little stressful b/c it's not like having clear numbers with the screening. My midwife tested my HbA1c as part of my early bloods and I was spot checking my sugars throughout the early stages of my pregnancy. I’m currently 19 weeks with my second. I’ve been having my GYN check my A1C annually since DS was born. It’s always been normal. By OB was going to order one at my first prenantal until I told her that I just had it done about a month prior. She mentioned taking my GTT early this time but she hasn’t brought it up since. So we’ll see. I passed that test, but then when I had to retake it at the normal time failed the one hour tested.
