I went to the hospital 3 times before I ended up induced. Haha. I didn't know the difference until I was having real contractions on pitocin. It's hard. Take the others advice and don't be quick to jump the gun. I know this is annoying to hear, because it was for me, but you will know when it's the real deal.

I had lots but I would time them and they weren't ever really regular and they would always go away after an hour or so. This is not helpful at all, but I knew it was time to go in when my water broke! That being said, once real contractions started, they felt really different. I could breathe and talk through BH contractions but not through real ones.

Sigh. The ones I am having sound like a mix of all of your BH and real labor contraction experiences. They are definitely worse when I am walking...sometimes hurt everywhere, sometimes are just tightening. Sometimes feel like period cramps and a low back ache, sometimes it is just a tight feeling. I keep telling myself "you'll know when they are real" but then I get scared that I wont? I have no idea.

Bh didn't hurt for me. Actual contractions did. Also my water broke before I ever felt a real contraction. My bh were so strong I was dilated 3cm from them.

My real contractions felt like bad period cramps. I also only felt hem in my lower uterus. My BH contractions felt like a tightening in my whole uterus.

Walking will tend to make real contractions worse, and usually improve BH. Also dehydration is a super common reason for worsening BH so I would drink tons of water if I got a lot of BH. The day I went into labor I drank so much water I was peeing 30 min and then went shopping at Costco and the contractions got worse so I finally admitted it was the real deal!

My BHs felt just like labor but 1/100 of the intensity of the real deal. Twice I thought I was in labor with contractions 5 min apart for over an hour but I wasnt dilating. When the real time came I was reluctant to believe it was real but it got very painful- enough that I couldn't talk or anything and I knew it was real.

I thought I would never know I was in labor. My "real" contraction were like menstrual cramps but worse. And they grew in intensity and then decreased (had a peak) and they came in waves and were timetable. And even at that point I didnt believe it was labor.

Sorry, you are going thru all of this. I know how stressful it is. I hope they calm down for you or it turns into the real deal soon.

I was getting alot of BH too and it could be quite uncomfortable at times. My belly would get super hard and contorted. I went into labor when I was eating dinner one night and my belly got suuuuper tight. Like a really intense BH with alot of pressure. I thought maybe I had to pee so I went to the bathroom. I didn't feel that much better after peeing and as I was walking back to the dinner table I felt more liquid coming out...my water had broken. We went to the hospital shortly after.

BH contractions felt very different for me. They felt like either menstrual cramps or like indigestion higher up on the belly. Real contractions for me were all in my lower back and were much more painful. I had to sit down and breathe through them. BH contractions were never that painful for me, but I know they can be.

how did you determine when to go to the hospital? Did you go multiple times just to get sent home again?

Since I got to 34 weeks my ob took me off procardia for my BH contractions. She said if I am having contractions every 5 minutes for 1 minute at a time for an hour to go in. I had them that often 3 times now, but when I was checked today I am not dialating at all.

Baby is breech and this will be my second c-section. I am completely panicked at the idea of not getting to the hospital in time and having my uterus rupture or something crazy...but I also don't want to keep going to L&D for nothing. It is a huge hassle and involves finding childcare for my toddler, usually at like 10pm. I know that when in doubt I should go to be safe, but this is making me feel like a crazy person.

So, if you had lots of BH, how did you know when it was the real deal? Did they feel different? More intense? Did your water just break? Any experiences would be helpful!
