Quite a surprise indeed. And if anyone does bump this later, they never got regular. Looking at the timer app, they got gradually closer together, but it just started varying from 4-6 minutes to varying from 2-4, etc. The pain level was definitely more intense pretty quickly, so that's your best indicator in my experience. I also started bleeding, but at that point I was already planning to head for the hospital really soon. And this started at 6, we left by 8 (took me some time to get enough clothing on, etc), and when we got there I was at a 6, and no chance of stopping it. So if you're not sure it's good to go in, but sometimes when they decide they're coming, then they're coming no matter what. I'll paste my response here in case this is bumped and useful to anyone else; I had a lot of BH and what worried me/what my OB told me to watch out for and call her for were: • Pain (I had a lot that were uncomfortable, but very few that were actually what I would describe as painful. I have a high pain threshold though, so what I say was uncomfortable, someone else might say was painful. I dunno) • If I could time them coming in regular intervals for more than 1 hour • If there was more than 6 in an hour after laying down and drinking several glasses of water. Assuming they aren't dilating you, my doctor said that you have to find your particular "baseline" and utilize that baseline (as opposed to the typical ones you read about) to identify if there is a change. When in doubt, call your doctor, though. FWIW, I had contractions and bleeding at 25 weeks and 34 weeks (was dilating at 34 weeks but the bleeding was actually an unrelated problem). I was on procardia and bed rest... I made it to my 39 week c-section and went off the meds at 36 weeks.
