@raintreebee: Matador84 had a super fast second labor (after a fast first one!), you might reach out to her!

@hilsy85: you are probably right. It's too bad bc I loved my mt Sinai docs, and I've never heard anything good about the Brooklyn hospitals. Any chance you know of an NYU OB?

@raintreebee: ehhhh...I personally would prob do NYU, I also just don't know anyone who has delivered at any of the Brooklyn hospitals. But I'm sure you can find opinions!

I didn't, but my mother did. 1st baby was in an hour, and her 2nd (me) was in 1.5 hours, so a hair longer, actually. Her 3rd baby was like 36 hours of labor, though. I know that her doctor told her after my older sister was born to come in as soon as her water broke or she started having any contractions. It was a good plan, seeing as I came pretty quickly, as well.

@lamariniere: Aggh!

@hilsy85: My worst nightmare. Also, this one is due in January so there is always snowstorm potential. The Brooklyn Bridge was closed with my first, so I went through transition in the cab and barely made it to hospital. I delivered at Mt. Sinai and loved it but am thinking NYU is significantly closer. Also, I wonder if Methodist in Park Slope is really that bad...

Yikes! I would prob be pretty nervous (sorry not helpful...). With #1 I was stuck in traffic on the FDR during morning rushi hour for 1.5 hours--that could be your whole labor! I also just talked to someone whose water broke as they were crossing the BK bridge in a cab in traffic on the way to the hospital...

Well, my 2nd LO was born in 45 min once contractions started. My OB said to plan for a home birth if I ever wanted to have another. :shocked:

If you had precipitous labor with one of your children, did your doctor recommend any particular strategy with the next? Was the next one just as fast/faster? I had a 2 hr. 50 min labor with LO#1 and need to now decide whether I should stay with my old OB group even though they deliver at a hospital 45 minutes away. The nearest non-scary hospital (I live in Brooklyn) is probably 30 minutes away, but every minute counts when you have a history of short labors.
