@mrbee: Yeah, he'd get these ideas into his head that I needed to learn something specific ..... The Karl Marx quiz was a real hit! The learning to play Dvorack's Symphony number 9 on the piano in 7/8 time, not so much! Yeah, maybe I shouldn't have joined in this conversation....... :shocked:

@Cherrybee: yikes!! That sounds...inappropriate?

@mrbee: Hm maybe craft stuff for them to create superhero masks and decorate them?

It reminds me of the Brady Bunch episode when I think Peter makes the volcano and they explode it, lol.

My son would probably want to bury his cars, do I get that. We are just entering the superhero phase now.

The other thing you could do is an indoor obstacle course, with pool noodles, hula hoops, jump rope and painters tape.
But you need space, not sure your friend would be syked for it.

@mrbee: Wow, that's a bit extreme!! :silly: This is totally not the same thing (!) but when I was little my dad decided to teach me about the holocaust and built a mini concentration camp in the back garden for my Barbie dolls. Mind, my dad was a bit strange.... like I say, not the same thing!! :silly:

@looch: I'll take pictures today and see if I can turn it into a blog post! The kids really have a blast with it, especially the part where they keep exploding the volcano over and over at the end.

This part is a bit macabre, but our son has these little superhero characters, and we'll spread them around the base of the volcano. Then when the lava touches the characters, that superhero "dies." We try and predict which character is going to live, based on the shape of the volcano. Just a little game to keep the explosions fun for the kids.

Seriously though, can you provide the steps and what you need to do this?

Our son has no school today, so I'm gonna take the day off and keep him company. Scheduled an afternoon playdate at a friend's house (it's raining), and she asked me to bring something fun for the kids. (They're moving and don't have many toys in the house.)

I said I'd bring the ingredients for a paper mache volcano, and then we'll build them together. Then afterwards, we'll erupt them with different food coloring in the vinegar. I think the kids will have fun, but I'm worried that our son's friend won't be into the volcano exploding part. So was thinking about bringing a second backup activity.

Any suggestions? They're both 4 years old right now.
