There are probably 2-3 days per year where it would be nice to have, but for the most part fans do us just fine. The furnace is a necessity, though. I get physically ill when I'm cold (like, sick to my stomach, I think from shivering!). For hot weather, I think ceiling fans work wonders! I keep bugging my husband that we should put a ceiling fan in our living room; I think it would cut our AC cost down significantly! The humidity during the summer is brutal. We were actually w/o heat for a couple winters a few years ago before we had Mitsubishi mini splits installed throughout our house. We had some nice heavy duty space heaters & would only heat the rooms we actually used. Honestly couldn't live w/o AC, though!
