I had my period back by 3 months pp and didn't really notice a difference. I BF until 21 months and after a year when I had my period I noticed he would nurse longer. But nothing changed for overnight. This could also be because when he turned 1 I went back to work and was not nursing during the day.

I noticed when I got periods back at 9 months pp that my sons sleep got worse for the week before and during AF waking up every 2 hours for a feed! It took me a couple of months to figure out as he was/is a bad sleeper!

@oliviaoblivia: just wanted to say I had a similar experience, after accidentally falling pregnant when my first was six months. My first did start taking formula and eventually self- weaned at ten months. I felt guilty at the time, and I'm sure pregnancy hormones didn't help! Now it seems like a distant memory, as I snuggle baby two.

Mine came back 6 weeks pp, and I breast fed until DD was 26 months. HOWEVER, she woke up through the night until 21 months when we did CIO. Sometimes up to 10x a night. So tired.... My supply was great for feeding her, but sucked when I pumped.

mine came back at 5 months pp and my supply has dropped a little. no idea though if that's contributing to the multiple night wakings or if it's just sleep regression... or maybe a little of both

Mine came back at 6 months postpartum and I noticed a drop in supply, but not a correlation between that and night wakings. My supply continued to drop every month between ovulation and my period.

Mine came back about 6 mo PP and I didn't notice an uptick in feedings or a drop in production but I do know its common.

@winniebee: I'm going to do what I can. She's gained just under two pounds since starting solids two weeks ago so she was clearly hungry. She can put away a ridiculous amount of solids and still nurses well when she's interested in nursing. Our pedi is okay with doing it this way. I'm wary that she's getting more calories from food than milk at such a young age but she's happy and gaining.
I've offered formula a few times and she looked disgusted, but she's never had a bottle of BM so I don't know if it was the contents or the vehicle.

Losing milk has definitely contributed to my guilt over this pregnancy. I feel like I'm stealing her nutrition. :crying:

@My Only Sunshine: The periods I had at 7 and 10w pp my let down took forever. That's not an issue this time but I do feel pretty empty.

@Adira: Ryan eats 3 meals but his intake is inconsistent and I don't think he ate more yesterday. Though I am definitely blaming my period on solids.

@winniebee: Sounds like everyone's experiences vary. My supply dropped dramatically when I had my period. Mine came back at like 7 months. But other people don't notice a drop at all.

My experience probably won't be helpful. I didn't get my period with Xander until 9.5 months and by then, I think he was eating 2-3 meals of solids a day. Plus I had increased his bottles at daycare, so I think he was still getting roughly the same amount of milk as before, at least most of the week. He didn't wake up more at night, though he might've increased the amount of solids he ate. I can't remember.

Did your baby wake up more to nurse while you had your period? R is usually up once maybe twice in a bad night and last night was up x3. I was tempted to let him CIO but it occurred to me he may actually be hungry because I have my period and probably less milk. He is 6.5 months and I haven't had a period since 10w pp
