Mine was an hour each way while pregnant. I called my mom a lot and DH too if I got sleepy. I tried to make sure I didn't get too warm. And I also listened to the radio or books on cd.

I've never felt like I was going to fall asleep in the car. I have a 50 minutes commute, twice a day.

But honestly, sometimes I have issues sleeping at home, in a nice bed, with curtains drawn and white noise going....so a car, upright, in sunlight--no issues whatsoever.

I listen to podcasts in the AM, talk to my mom during the PM. It sucks though. My commute in the AM is about 40-45 mins and in the PM closer to an hour.

Honestly, I don't know how I'm going to do it with a new baby.

I always drink coffee in the morning. And listen to A LOT of NPR! ETA I have a 1.25 hour commute each way and rarely ever felt drowsy. Frustrated at the long commute and tired of commuting, but not drowsy :-)

@bluestriped bee: Talking on the phone and eating candy. My evening commute was 45-60 minutes and it sucked during first trimester exhaustion. I usually took a nap as soon as I got home!

I had an audible subscription and listened to books on tape. As long as it was something funny or really engaging, I had no problem staying awake!

@bluestriped bee: on a good day it was 2! Don't miss that at all! I think talking on the phone with my mom was the best way to stay awake!

Ice water, open windows, snacks, talking on the phone. I really struggled with this during my pregnancy with LO 1. My commute home took 2.5-3 hours and I was soooo tired.

I'm so grateful that I'm part of a vanpool that takes me into work. I only have to drive 15-20 minutes to the pickup location. But today, I had to borrow the car to go to a dr appt. I was fine going there but on the way back the 30 minute drive back to work was tough.

Coffee (decaf/ caffeinated?), candy, snacks, beverage?

Luckily, I had some tic-tacs in my purse and that chewed on to get me to work.

I think this is why my pregnant co-worker works from home as much as she can. Her commute is much longer than mine.
