We have the same as @dookie32 and put it up around 18 months. LO played and still plays with it, though not for extremely long periods of time. He's starting to get into it a bit more now that he's 2.

We have M&D wooden play food. Frankly, I would not recommend it. The paint chips/rubs off on stuff easily, including walls and floors. Especially avoid the red pots! They're cute, but that red paint. Ugh.

We bought the ikea one (no microwave attachment) for LO's 1 year birthday. I only bought pots and pans, as well as mini ladles and spatulas. She started playing with it right away.

We have the kidkraft vintage kitchen in white. We bought it for LO's first birthday but assembled and let him play with it a month before. He immediately loved it and continuously played with it for up to a year. I have it in the kitchen, and he enjoys cooking alongside with me. We bought mainly wooden play toys but have a few felt and plastic ones too. He likes them all. I also recommend the kidkraft set of pots and pans.

We have this one:

http://www.amazon.com/KidKraft-53260-Uptown-Espresso-Kitchen/dp/B00592BOAO

My son got it for his 1st birthday. It's really nice even though it was a royal pain to put together according to my dad and husband. He hasn't been too into it yet but he's frankly at a point right now where he has no attention span for anything. We have some of the metal utensils and pots from Ikea and cardboard/plastic groceries from Melissa & Doug.

Following! I want to get J a wooden kitchen- either ikea or one in amazon- I think hape is the brand?

I prefer wood and felt toys but a friend bought J plastic. He doesn't mind them but they break/crack easily.

Where did you get it?
What brand is it?
What material food did you get (plastic? wood? felt?)
When did you introduce it?
When did your LO start playing with it?
