It's French. Maximillion, Maximus, and Maxwell are all options. One of my favourite books growing up is "Max helps out." It's about a little squirrel who is houng his dad do some renovation. It turns out it's his room! In our family, whenever we helped my Dad out he's call us Max. We do the same with our cats or our son "helping" too. We like the name, but wouldn't use it an a name for this reason. I wouldn't want to exclude a future boy or girl. I liked it better than any long form version. His middle name is Kevin after a family member. I didn't exactly love how Max Kevin flowed but it's grown on me and it was more important to keep the family name. I think what you pick will work eventually you just have to get used to it! It doesn't sound good with any of the middle names we like, so we're thinking about Maxwell or some other long version of Max for the full name. If your son is named Max, did you name him "just" Max, or did you use a longer version for the full name? Also, what's your son's middle name? TIA!! PS--Yes, I know this is silly and doesn't matter yet for us, but it's been on my mind!
