They have two doors in the house that open onto the deck, and one door from the garage. The two gates on the fence around the other side of the deck also don't have locks. Their kids were older when they installed it, and it was the early/mid 90s, and I don't think there was as much of an emphasis on safety. I am going to be super paranoid though and am going to encourage them to get a surface alarm, and I like the idea of those bracelets. We will be installing a locking gate and fence on the deck so it the LO gets out to the deck he/she cant fall in the pool. We will also be putting an alarm on the sliding door that goes out to the deck. The one good thing about the fact that we havent replaced that sliding door yet- its so hard to open i dont think a LO will be able to pull it! We have a fence with a gate that we actually moved to the other side of our pool to block it off from our drive-thru garage. Right now we don't have any kids, and we sometimes leave our garage doors open if we're working outside. The last thing I wanted was for someone's kid to come wandering into our backyard and be able to get into/fall into our pool. So, we moved it.</p> <p>If/when we have a baby, we will need to put up another fence on the other side so that our child can not walk out of our back door and into the pool. So there is no lock system at all. They are installing an alarm so if that door opens they know immediately.
