When we moved in we wanted to change all of it to a much much darker wood but I'm glad we didn't because even though this isn't our taste it's a nice compromise between darkness and not showing every speck of dust and dog hair! It also helps to have some texture or grain in the wood. The dog has all kinds of scratches (more like indents) in the wood now and we used a hickory I believe which is fairly hard on the scale. </p> <p>Honestly, my parents got some really nice vinyl in their house that looks 100 times better than ours and will hold up better. The dark hardwood was one of the features that really attracted us to our house. After we moved in we quickly learned that they show every. little. speck. of. dirt. We Roomba every day and the floor is covered in dog hair within an hour. Our bigger dog wears boots in the house because the scratches from his nails show so easily. It drives me nuts because I feel like we swiffer or vacuum every other day and it looks like we don't. It also shows our foot prints, which I find odd. It's just the original wood floor that we had refinished and stained.</p> <p>I like it, and I don't think this color shows dust/hair too bad.
