@lamariniere: Maybe leave them home the 1st week and see how it goes - if it goes great you can leave them home the 2nd week and if it doesn't you can always do 1/2 days or full days the 2nd week

@Mamaof2: he would be willing to if I asked him. He's very easy, haha. He is staying with us the full 2 weeks!

@lamariniere: Is your dad capable and willing to watch them both for 2 weeks while you work?

Is your dad just staying with you for the full 2 weeks? Is there anyone else he wants to visit or see while there?

@lamariniere: that's great, i would probably do at least a half day. When my inlaws come, they like to do a little shopping, some sightseeing, relaxing. It lasts all of three days, then my FIL starts on the yard, etc. This year, he painted our front and back doors, lol.

Plus, your dad will need some downtime, some time with you, etc. Two weeks is so short!

@Mamaof2: We just came back from a 2 week vacation. DS was totally fine going back to school (he's 3.5). DD took a few days to get used to the babysitter (she's 9 months), so I'm not too worried about readjusting. I guess my question is more about if we should max out the time with grandpa or not.

@lamariniere: I guess it depends on how you think your LO will do - for my kids even after a long 3 day weekend getting back into a routine on that next day is hard for them - so I would never pull them for 2 weeks.

Maybe do every other day then?

I always just ask my parents/in-laws for what type of schedule they want when they're here in terms of daycare. They always have something in mind!

@Mamaof2: @looch: @Weagle: A reduced schedule is possible for daycare. I just really want everyone to get the full advantage since we haven't seen my dad in over a year!

I would maybe switch to a reduced schedule for the two weeks, but would continue to put them in childcare part of the time for routine's sake.

My inlaws came for 2 weeks this summer and for one week, I continued to send my son to camp, the second week we kept him home. My husband was off for two weeks though, I went to work!

In your situation, I would keep my son in daycare/preschool, for my son at least, he'd be bored at home all day and he'd have a really difficult time adjusting to the routine again after 2 weeks. 1 week we can deal with, but two, not so easily.

I wouldn't pull them for 2 weeks.

I would either do 1/2 days at DCP or a few full days off.

Plus it might be nice to leave them in DCP and you and your dad spend the day together one day too!

Do you keep LO in daycare/with the baby sitter or use grandparent care?

My dad is coming from overseas to visit for 2 weeks and I can't decide if I should keep my son in daycare at least part of the day, or keep him home with grandpa the whole time. Same for my daughter, I can't decide if I should have the babysitter still come once or twice a week or just let my dad handle the kids. I know my dad wants to spend as much time as possible with them. I'll be working on a part time basis at home while he's here, so in any case someone would have to look after them the hours that I'm working. I will still have to pay daycare regardless, but not the babysitter.

What would you do in this situation?
