Both of our cars are baby friendly (I have a Nissan Rogue, DH has a VW Passat). We only have one carseat and it's in my car though we can move it to his car if we need to.

I voted other (didn't feel like typing the actual category :P) cause we have one baby friendly car and a regular cab truck. We plan to wait until I am near the end of my maternity leave to purchase a replacement vehicle for the truck (we hate that truck so we are excited, but putting it off because we don't have car payments currently and are bummed to have one eventually!)

LO is 9 months and still in an infant car seat. We both have bases in our cars because I drop her off at daycare and 2x week DH has to pick her up. My mom also has a base so she can take her to their house when she babysits. Not sure what we are going to do when we need to transition to a bigger carseat since 2x week I work too late to pick her up!

Both our cars can hold LO but my husband's car is less comfortable since it has a smaller interior. So, when we take the entire family, we always take our station wagon.

We have three cars: 2 small SUVs less than 5 years old each, and one classic car. Our kid will ride in any of the three, though we'll probably avoid the classic car until she is old enough to have a strong neck and such, as it is bumpy.

We have a minivan and a two door acura rsx. LO only rides in the mini van.... unless of course there's an emergency, we can always move the car seat over.

I am a SAHM. We have two cars. A car seat will fit in my husband's car and we had an infant base in there. My car is by far bigger and easier to get LO in and out of. I can count on one hand the number of times LO rode in my DH's car in the first year. When we switched to the convertible, we just keep it in my car. It would fit in DH's car if necessary. Point is, I think you will want to have a car that LO could ride in, but it does not have to be an ideal baby car.

We have two cars... we have a Honda Odyssey and Toyota Camry, and both cars can accommodate our LO... we mostly just use the Odyssey though so I think we can get by with one car if we really had to. It would just mean only one of us can do pickups/dropoffs at daycare though... right now we both do it.

We're set up as @Foodnerd81 describes.
I have a mommymobile (Mazda CX5 SUV). I have him all day and then we usually go out as a family in it as well.
SO has my old KIA Forte 4 door, saves gas and which fits LO just fine but we only use it rarely, IE if one of us needs the SUV to move furniture, etc.

@Foodnerd81: your thoughts are mine exactly! plus, i kind of have a love hate relationship with my babymobile & the thought of getting to drive sometime unbabyfriendly on occasion or when DH & i go on dates by ourselves is appealing =)

We both transport her to/from daycare, so we have to have two cars that work. If I stayed home FT and DH and I were ok with driving each other's cars, then we would be ok with only having one car she fit into, provided that whoever had LO had access to that car (i.e. if I went and got my hair done or something on a weekend, I would take DH's car so he had my car and could transport LO if the need arose).

We'll have a base in each of our cars so LO can ride with whomever! Even if we didn't have a base, we would just strap the carseat into the car the old fashioned way.

I think it makes sense to have a small car for him to save on mileage, and a mom car for you. Since you won't be switching off (like with daycare drop offs) I don't think it would matter much. Most likely, you could put LO in the other car in an emergency, it would just be uncomfortable, like the passenger seat would be all the way forward and the passenger would have to sit in the back. That's doable for a few days if your car was in the shop, but you'd save so much on gas, I would think.

That said, we just have one car and live in the city so rarely drive it. Our "sharing" the car consists mostly of him driving it maybe once a week, less in the winter, so it's not really an issue.

Kids can ride in both my station wagon and dh's regular truck, since it's a 3 door. In fact, his truck is super safe and we prefer them to ride in there. But, he's also got a fancy turbo charged truck in the garage that is only around to be a toy and it's definitely not a vehicle to transport children in!

i have a babymobile, a chrysler pacifica, and DH has an older corolla that we are looking to replace. once we have a LO, they'll be with me during the day, so no daycare pickup/drop off, and on weekends and for car trips we'd be taking my car as a family. DH has about a half hour commute so he likes having something small and good on gas, but those aren't usually baby friendly cars. trying to figure out how much we should care about his ability to have a LO in his car.

if you have more than one car, do you have a babymobile that whomever has LO drives, or does LO ride in each of your cars?
