@Mrs. Pen: after seeing you post about baby Einstein I turned on their YouTube channel for DD while DH & I ate dinner...game changer :)

Sometimes I let her watch a little "live! With Kelly & Michael" while I drink my morning tea or make breakfast/get dressed but that's about it. I try and only watch it when she's sleeping but as a SAHM sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do lol

Often...but I really should cut back. I'm use to keeping the news on while I cook dinner but the news is SO scary to a 3 year old! DS doesn't pay attention to any show that doesn't seem Disney-ish. DD has no interest in the tv.

@mediagirl: we don't have the tv on when LO is awake/with us except for football games on Sunday too :). We turn her highchair away from the tv so she can't see it while she's eating (our kitchen, casual dining area and family room are all open) and we just bring her toys in the family room and let her play while the football games are on. Our pediatrician said as long as it's not dedicated screen time that it's not that bad if the tv is on in the background.

Whenever we are home our TV is on, mostly for background noise. LO has gotten used to it so doesn't really care for it too much, he's army crawling now so he's much more interested in finding mischief to get into than staying in one spot watching TV.

We have it on for part of the day- morning and evening news and a few shows here and there, and sports. He really only watches a half hour at breakfast so I can get ready (Little Einsteins or Sesame Street) and that's about it.

It is too bad about the hockey strike this year, that was one thing that had his attention during the Stanley Cup earlier this year.

@meredithNYC: I don't either. I had a lot of guilt about it initially but it's hard to change old habits and apart from that it's hard to find a lot of things to do with babies under a year old because activities only hold their attention for maybe 20 minutes at a time.

We always have the TV on during our dinner and after. LO is usually partly awake for part of that time; and since she is obsessed with trying to watch TV I'm sure she sometimes watches it. She cranes her little neck around to see it!

Sometimes we also have the TV on before dinner; usually just as background noise or for the news.

The weekends he doesn't ever watch TV though because we always spend more time together as a family, or we're out doing things.

My policy used to be no tv when she's up, but then she pushed her bedtime back to 9, some nights, and that leaves me with no down time after she goes to bed. So now only after 7, or if I'm sick or something. I'm not perfect about it, some difficult mornings I'll on sesame street. But I for sure do not leave it on all day.

Brennan is obsessed with TV, so I try not to turn it on when he's in the room. Luckily, during the week he is in daycare and there are no TVs so I don't feel awful if he watches a little football with mommy and daddy on the weekend.
