DS is a climber for sure, but we put up 2 ikea ledges for his books at his eye level and he's never tried to climb them. I think they're low enough it doesn't occur to him. which is shocking since he's climbed everything else :)

We have low bookshelves and DS has never tried to climb them. We taught him very early what he could touch and what he couldn't and he actually understood.

@Mamaof2: good to know! See I really don't think he will try to climb them, but DH doesn't' think so. He said I can install them anyways tho.

@Dandelion: yes, I can see that happening!

we have shelves similar to that and they don't climb them but they both would hold the lower shelf while trying to reach the books on the lower shelf - so def make sure they are secure!

So I really want to do some low ledges to display LO's books. I love the idea that they are at his level and he can see the fronts of the books. DH thinks it's a bad idea since he will try and climb them. And yeah, I agree he will try and climb them, but can't we just teach him that he's not supposed to? We plan to make sure they're secured to studs in case he does climb them.

So if you have low bookshelf ledges, does your LO try to climb them?
