I never looked into finding out if there was an underlying cause, and we've had no fertility issues. But they were awful. My primary care suspected endo and sent me for a meeting with her OB before we started TTC. The OB said she didn't feel I had strong enough symptoms to warrant the invasive surgery to check for endo. She wanted me to TTC for a while first. The pain now - at O - is so hard and sharp it has me doubling over and breathless. The pain has been much better since I had DD, but it gets worse as the endo grows (same idea with PCOS cysts, I imagine).</p> <p>@spaniellove: It always seem weird to me when doctors say stuff like that. It only takes a little to cause a lot of problems. When I had my lap, my doctor only found a small amount of active endo growth. I got pregnant and switched to an OB and my previous doctor told me not to worry about the PCOS anymore since I got pregnant so fast.</p> <p>But I'm actually going through the process again because I've got some symptoms. Though my periods are no longer as painful as they were pre-baby. OTC medications actually work for my cramps now, no more prescription drugs!</p> <p>P.S. Mine was both--it could be off and on and constant. I would spike a fever with every period and be in so much pain i would throw up. Bcp didn't help as a teen, but as a college student my gyne let me try different pain meds. Before I went on the pill as a teenager, my periods were so painful I would lay on the bathroom floor wishing I could die. After 11+ years on BCP, the endo moved and my pain is now concentrated around my ovaries so I get the terrible cramping around O.
