It attracts cat hair so badly, plus our cats have totally destroyed one leg by scratching it (which really depresses me because our couch is only a few months old, ugh). Because it's been well over a month since we've vacuumed ours. And it's nubby brown fabric that attracts and hangs onto EVERYTHING. It's so gross. I really want to invest in a couple of nice blankets to put on there because seriously vacuuming that sectional with any frequency is such a pain. Plus I feel like at this point, once I vacuum up the hair it's still going to stink like dog. Never? Seriously. I can't remember the last time we did... and our dogs are on our couch all the time. But in my defense we have very low shed dogs that prefer to lay on the blankets and pillows rather than the couch itself. Rather than vacuum up their hair, I have to give them monthly haircuts (which is more like, when I can't handle their scruff anymore.) As for dog hair in general.... Of course I clean but the second I'm done there's more. We just had to deal with lo getting some hair in her mouth. I hate that it looks like this all the time but it keeps our furniture looking good for when we have company. They shed once a year... for 365 days. I vacuum our area rugs (and sweep the rest of the house) weekly as part of my "chores" so I just hit the couch then too. We have two dogs and two cats and there is hair EVERYWHERE! I recently bought a furminator (they have great prices on amazon) and it helps a lot. And our dog totally digs blankets off of things to make better pillows for himself! We do have a duvet on the bed over our good quilt that is specifically there to trap puppy hair, though. When we need to put something on the bed, we pick the corner up and the quilt below is clean. We do have upholstered couches in our living room and i keep junk on them to stop him from getting on them so I don't have to clean them. :) When we only had upholstered couches, I vacuumed once a week. But that was before babies. I can't imagine having the time to do that now if we still used those couches for daily sitting. He is such a hairy dog, we could never hope to keep up. We're getting our Sheltie mix a de-shedding grooming (they work on thoroughly combing out his undercoat) when we drop him off at doggie daycare as soon as its baby-time. It's much easier to do that than do a deep vacuuming each week.
