My 3 year old son likes it!! We bought it and he asks to watch it (gets bored in middle). I cried in the end, but the concepts are too over his head at this point. He does point out that Riley is crying in the end, and says she's sad, but he doesn't get the bigger picture.

LO is advanced for her age in some ways. She watched it right after she turned 4 and was fine. We recently bought it and she rewatched it (nearly 5) and she liked it. We had guests over so everyone was being loud; well, she wanted me to turn up the volume so she could hear the part where Riley was crying and talking.

It would be too much for my very emotionally sensitive three year old. I was really hoping to be able to show her, but after I saw it I was so glad she wasn't there. She is very empathetic and gets really upset when other people are upset.

It was really emotionally charged but honestly, I think too intellectual for young kids. DH and I saw it and loved it but I can't imagine showing it to DD for a while because it's not a singing and dancing kinda movie.

I've tried to show it to my 3 year old and she always seems super interested at first (we have an Inside Out find-the-picture book so she knows "Joy" and "Sadmiss"), but it fades about half an hour in. She doesn't like the dead rat part and some things are just too advanced for her.

It was too emotionally sensitive for me and DH! Or maybe we are just big babies. I just wasn't prepared for a movie about the demise of childhood...and maybe the little girl shots reminded me too much of LO. But it was fabulously done.

We watched it this weekend, he watched the beginning and end. He's not very emotionally sensitive though, so much of it was above his understanding. The middle was pretty boring for him, heck- I fell asleep during parts of the middle :silly: I'm very glad I didn't take him to the theater to see it though, I had been considering making it his first movie. We would not have lasted very long with this movie!

I really liked it though, it gave me some interesting perspective on emotions.

My LO saw it just after 2.5, in the theater, and liked it a lot. We distracted her with snacks and went to a theater with couches instead of standard seats.

I just watched it with my 3 yo. He wasn't interested for very long. I think the sad pets are great talking points. They aren't terribly sad. But there are some imaginary parts that may be scary and some dangerous situations (ie almost falling into a void) that could be scary.

I'm not planning to show M because up till 6 months ago, Frozen was scary for her. I've heard a lot of toddler parents say some parts can be dark for sensitive kids?
