Otherwise I would let loose. It hurt to hold it in if I didn't have to! But, when I first came home from the hospital after having lo, I would fart without even realizing I was doing it! I would get up off the couch or bend over and they would just come out. It's gotten a lot better now (3 weeks later) but I still can't hold it in that well. When we're out in public, I always catch him though ... he'd walk off to somewhere secluded (it always happens at a furniture store) and I notice right away and crack up! The first time he did it, I didn't realize it was him and said, "whoa! can you smell something? it's soooo stinky!" HAHAH! I try to hold it in. Or be discrete and hope no one walks around me. Ever since I have been pregnant I have to fluff way more and sometimes when I am laughing, coughing, or sneezing, fluffs just accidentally slip out! Well, the other day we were at a friend's house and there was a group of 14 of us there and when I was laughing I accidentally fluffed soooo loud, everyone heard it! No one said anything but it sort of got quiet. I was mortified, but there wasn't anything I could do! If I am in public, I really try and hold it in, but if I am at home or if it's just be and DH, I will let it out. He thinks it's really nasty though... I didn't start doing it a lot around him until I was pregnant. I just don't care anymore! I usually get on my phone and call the weather hotline if I fart at work. That way nobody will pop into my cubical because they think I'm busy. Gives me a chance to air it out lol.
