We had the same issue when I went back to work at 12 weeks. She would wake up and either nurse and try to go back to sleep, or not nurse and just want to play, smile at us.

I ended up nursing her at daycare before I left. It works well because the drive to school wakes her up and then she's hungry and ready to eat by the time we get there.

@zippylef: @crash806: I usually have the light on, the dog comes in and sometimes I get on my phone....I'll try to eliminate all distractions and see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestions.

I agree w/ @zippylef . M is 6 mths old and still easily distracted and like you I need to be out of the house around 630. She will nurse for 20 mins or so but I only do it in her room with no distractions, not even my phone, b/c she will find it! I won't even let DH in because he's a distraction to her.

Sadly, not a phase. C is 6 months and still does this. lol. Have you tried feeding her in a quiet, darkened room? Less distractions.

How do you get them to concentrate on eating when all they want to do is look around at the world?

M is 16 weeks and we have to be out the door by 6:40am. I need to feed her before we leave so I start that around 6:10. Sometimes it takes a half hour to get her to eat because she's smiling at me (which I love, don't get me wrong) and looking at everything.

Any suggestions on getting baby to wake up earlier or to concentrate while eating that early? I'm currently turning her light on at 6am and letting her wake up for a few minutes before I pick her up. She goes down by 6:30pm. Perhaps this is just a phase she is going through?
