Mine were 19m apart, we kept #1 in the nursery because his sleep was awesome and I didn't want to disrupt it around the same time of having a newborn. We kept #2 in our room for 6 months then moved him into the nursery and #1 into his own room with a twin bed. It worked out great because by then #1 was used to the baby and when I made a big deal about his "big boy bed," he was super excited and the transition was easy.

I know people have their LO's share but I wouldn't unless I had to at least until they are older. Now (at 3 yrs. and 20 months) they sleep at the same times but it would have been really hard when they were sleeping at different times and the baby still woke up at night. Plus #1 hardly sleeps during nap time but definitely needs quiet time and he would wake up #2 if they were in the same room.

We moved my toddler at 19 months and had no issues. It's been a year and I can count on one hand the number of times he has gotten out on his own! I did use a sleep sack for the first month or two.

I have a 22 month old and a 3 week old. We moved DD1 to a toddler bed at 18 months and put the crib in DD2's nursery, even though she'll be in the cosleeper in our room for a while yet. They will not share a room, at least while navigating toddler and baby sleep schedules.

Our LO was 19 months when DD2 arrived. Like you, we have a three bedroom with the third bedroom being used as a guest room and we have kept it that way. DD1 is still in a cot in her room and will stay there for a while. DD2 is in the PnP in our bedroom and will likely stay there for six months or so as that's what we did with our first LO. We're moving in the next few months so we'll set up a second nursery for DD2 then for when we move her out of our room. I do plan on having the girls share a room at some stage but not until they're both out of cots.

M was 22 months when her sister was born, we moved her to a toddler bed a couple months prior and the baby is still sleeping in our room at 6 months old. When we have more room (M shares a room with her step-sisters every other weekend) I'd like to have them share a room with a crib and a twin.

Separate rooms for sure! My son will stay in his current room (he'll be a year and a half) and the new baby will have it's own room (although I imagine there's be a period where he/she is in our room, or the living room with me on the couch.) I know lots of people room-share and make it work, but to me, if you don't have to do it I'd rather not deal with the hassle. Having one wake up at night or really early in the morning and waking up the other too, trying to have naps timed right so I'm not putting a fussy baby down for a nap while my son is sleeping and interrupt his nap, them having different bed times and the younger one waking up when I'm putting down the older one to bed...nope. Not doing it.

Maybe it wouldn't be as bad as what I'm imagining, but I'm not risking it! lol

LO was 16 months when the baby was born. The baby slept in a PNP in our room for 3 months before she moved into her own room & crib.

If you have two under two, how did you do your LO's sleeping arrangements? Did you keep LO #1 in the crib or move to toddler/big girl bed to make room for LO #2? Do you have them sharing the nursery or did you give them separate rooms?

My LO will be 20 months when LO #2 arrives. I'm planning on keeping the baby with me in the rock and play for about four months. I have a third bedroom that right now has a double guest bed in it, I'm thinking of keeping it up while my new LO is a newborn for sleepless nights. But then part of me wants to just go ahead and get a twin bed ready for LO #1. I know it will work out, just open to advice...
