Obviously it depends on how much your ring is worth, but we pay $120 a year on mine.

$150/year for $15k coverage. Reappraisals optional. I lost my e-ring for over a month, and I got it re-appraised when I found it because I noticed prices had gone up. Our policy stayed the same.

Holy cow...that's a whole lot of money for just your e-ring. I have my e-ring, my wedding band and my grandmother's e-ring on my separate insurance policy and pay a premium of about $130.

All 3 rings were appraised and I want to say that the appraisal for all 3 together was $15,000.

Wow, that sounds really high unless you have a 30k e-ring. I think it's typically about $10 per $1000 of value. We pay about 130 for a 13k appraisal. I've never had to have it reappraised.

We are insured through State Farm and it is around $100 per $10,000 of coverage per year.

Omg I would love to pay $200 for my home owners.... Mine is over $1000 a year!

We have to have ours on a separate rider (the coverage is much worse if it's not separate). I have all two rings covered together - it's about $125/year for $30,000 of coverage. The rider I have is the more expensive of two rider options my insurance offers - the option we have allows you to get the cash value OR a replacement ring made (which could be more than the cash value). We have to re-appraise every 5 years.

Like @LindsayinNY said, there is a limit to what your normal policy covers, so our (nice) watches are covered, but my jewelry had to go separately.

Initially we were paying $450/year (State Farm, and we have all our cars, condo under SF too), but felt that was way too much. So they let us lower the value of the ring - we just picked an amount that was $5K lower than the original appraised value - and that brought it down to $275 or something around there.

We have my engagement ring and both of our wedding rings on a separate rider. We pay $300 a year for all of them.

There's usually a cap on what can be covered under your homeowner's policy. Ours exceeded that amount so we needed a separate policy.

I think insurer's require a recent appraisal. I remember one of mine saying within the last 18 months? So it's possible that you might need it re-appraised.

Ours is really high (not even going to post it). But it was explained to me that rings and jewelry have a higher premium or whatever because they are more likely to get lost or damaged. The risk to the insurance company is higher.

Just asked, and DH says we pay around $30/year (if it matters, it's worth around $3,000 (which freaks me out when I think about it, because that's what I paid for my first car!)). I've also never had to have it reappraised, and I've had it right around 5 years.

i'd have to look up how much the rider costs but i dont think it is anywhere near that. It might be to your benefit to have it reappraised as the cost of gold has gone up (if it is gold).

How much do you pay for it annually? And does your insurer require you to get it appraised regularly? How often?

We just got our annual home insurance statement and while our home insurance is around $900/year, my ring is an additional $350, which is outrageous to me. They also want me to submit a new appraisal for it, which is super annoying to me (it was last appraised five years ago)

So I'm wondering what others' situations are so that when I call my insurer to complain I have some stats to hit them over the head with :)
