@LaineysMom: oh we started with avent bottles. but when olive went on a bottle strike (over christmas break where I nursed and she got no bottles), i tried a bunch of different bottles and comotomo were the ones she liked best.

Thanks everyone! I tend not to believe in "nipple confusion" to be honest. However, we didn't have to introduce a bottle with DS right away (he did have a paci in the hospital and starting ~ ~2 weeks old) so this is just different and new experience for me.

Thanks again for all your suggestions! I have a lot of research to do, but the Comotomo is my front runner right now. Silicone bottles are so awesome to feel and hold!

We used a tube with a syringe and finger fed for the first week. Then we introduced the ComoTomo bottle around 2.5 weeks. I don't think we had trouble with nipple confusion, though I think my daughter's latch did get slightly worse when we introduced the bottle. I had to continually retrain her.

I honestly don't think of matters that much which bottle you use. But we used Philips avent from the beginning and olive never had any problems.

@anbanan15: Leaking liquid gold is def grounds for being replaced! Only time the CT bottle leaks is when I assemble it wrong (don't put the nipple in the ring correctly) and I'm sure that I'm the only dummy who messes that up! They're really great bottles. I'm sure you'll love them!

We used the Medela Calma, but didn't introduce right away. It really does mimic breastfeeding, as there is no flow until LO sucks for a second. It doesn't just pour out.

@LaineysMom: omg! Yay!! Thank you so much. Holding a silicone bottle is amazing next to a traditional bottle! I was sad to need to change from the Nuby but leaking liquid gold is not good. Now I don't have to!

@anbanan15: it's attached! There are only 4 pieces to wash including the lid.. Sooo much simpler than most bottles. If you buy on Target.com with your red card it's free shipping and 5% off.

@LaineysMom: thanks! I just watched some YouTube videos and it looks like the grey/silver piece where the nipple attaches is molded/attached to the silicone part and doesn't come apart? In the Nuby silicone bottles that piece is separate so you have to disassemble if milk gets between that collar and the silicone which I think is what caused it to leak and stretch out over time. I adored the silicone bottles though. If that piece is attached I think you just sold me on these :)

@anbanan15: Nope! They're reinforced around the collar. I've been EPing for 7+ months now so our bottles have gotten a lot of use. I don't have one complaint about these bottles!

Btw, the bottles themselves didn't effect LO's BFing habits. We switched to exclusively pumping bc LO had severe reflux and I had an overactive letdown.. plus, i like the convenience of others feeding her. :)

@LaineysMom: Oh I saw these when I was looking into other silicone bottles with DS. Have you had any issues with them stretching around where you attach the collar and nipple causing leaks? This was the problem with our other silicone bottles. I LOVED them though and yes was also obsessed.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I'm really interested in the joovy also the more I look into them. Are you looking at the PPSU or the PP ones? I think I like the PPSU ones better. BTW did you see they have a pump adapter that will work with most pumps to go right into the bottles?

on day 5 we went the pediatrician's office and he told us to supplement with formula. he brought out a pack of premixed formula in newborn-size bottles, popped the cheap-ass nipple on it, and we used that for a couple of weeks. then we used dr. brown's wide bottles and avent natural bottles. LO was fine with all 3 (i mean, he would drink from them, but he also had some bad gas issues although i don't think that was due to the bottles--that was just his little system taking its damn sweet time to develop).

@chopsuey119: haha yea I don'tthink DH would be into the parts either. He probably wouldn't put the bottles together correctly and complain they leaked all the time instead of recognizing it as a "user issue" haha.

Did you have any nursing issues with either one from the start? DS nursed like a champ for day 1 and BFing was really easy for us. I think that might determine what type of bottles I need also but there is no way of knowing until after baby is born.
