I'm originally from Chicago but now live in Queensland, Australia which has a very similar climate to south Florida. We're moving to Darwin in April and that is at the very top of Australia with a tropical climate (winter highs in the 90s, summer highs in the upper 90s with high humidity) and I'm dreading it. I HATE the heat and love having four seasons! At least when you have seasons, you can appreciate the nice days when you have them and there's some variety in activities and wardrobe. Half of the the year, you can't go outside. Before baby, I played volleyball, ran and went biking and hiking. But you stop all of these activities in May and you don't start any of then back up until October. All you can do outdoors is go to the beach (2 hour drive) or the springs. OK, bear with me if you're from up north and reading this -- I UNDERSTAND that cold weather is awful, snow sucks, etc. The grass is always greener. But I get so sad when we get like 4 cold days and then here we are in January, it feels like it's over 90 degrees outside and humid. I can't drink tea without sweating my face off. We need to have the AC at 74 and I need to be wearing practically no clothes just for me to manage cleaning the house. I think part of it is I HATE being hot -- I'd much rather be cold and bundle up. And I miss cool-weather clothes -- I never feel like buying boots, sweaters, etc. is worth it because I get so little wear out of it.</p> <p>I used to live in Oklahoma and Chicago, so I have some comparison. Maybe I'm just out of touch and don't remember how bad it was. I also feel like it's been warmer and warmer and cooler for shorter and shorter periods of time lately, so that's wearing on me as well.</p> <p>If you also live in a warm climate... do you feel me? Or do you think I'm nuts?</p> <p>ETA... and if you agree, where do you think you'd rather live? </p>
