@Sweet T: Do you mean the string that runs down the back of the bean pod?

My LO loves apples and we let her chew on the core of a granny smith that she loved (obviously with us holding it and she doesn't have teeth so she can't bite off chunks).

We typically bake the food (sweet potatoes, squash, etc) and then put in the food processor and then freeze separately.

I did. Somewhere around 1/4 of a cup...maybe a little bit more. The strings kept getting through the strainer no matter what I did.

I've been meaning to come back to this thread and I keep forgetting!

I tried making a green bean puree over the weekend. I steamed them, pureed them, and attempted to strain them. No matter what I did, I couldn't get rid of those tough strings.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking of just holding off on them until LO is eating finger foods on his own unless I can figure something out!

We started meats at 6 months old with turkey and bacon. He is almost a year old and definitely wants meat over anything else. We didn't worry too much about allergies even with his dairy and soy intolerance. We froze everything separately in the ball canning jars. Then combined them after defrosting. He would love the craziest combos. We did mostly baby led weaning so purees were for putting weight on.

LO is almost 8 months and I've been meaning to give her meats/poultry all of this month but never got around to it. I do have every intention of trying it out soon - doctor gave the okay at 6 months.

I don't use granny smith only because LO finds apples, in general, too sour.

And for mixing foods, I freeze separately and then mix and match different foods (squash + pear, carrots + apple, cereal + mango, etc.)

I make the food as I go so don't really freeze. We gave meat etc at about 7 months. I just serve up whatever I know LO likes and vary the combos.

I froze everything separately. I fed her each food item individually to make sure that there were no allergies. Once I had enough foods I knew she wasn't allergic to, then I started mixing everything together. I started meat around 8 months maybe?

We haven't done meats yet. She's 8 months and I plan to soon. But the doctor gave the ok for meat at 6 months.

I used granny Smith apples. She loves them! (Fyi you asked that question twice... must be eager to make some apples!)

I usually just freeze foods separately and mix later. But I don't feel like doing it the other way would be a problem.

I would love it if you could answer a few questions! :)

LO is 6 months old (7 months soon) and has been eating solids since he turned 5 months old. He's still only eating solids once a day. I'm just curious on when others introduce chicken or other proteins.

Also, has anyone made purees using Granny Smith apples? That's the only kind we have at the moment. If I use them for purees, I plan on baking them.

Oh, and when did you start mixing foods? Do you cook, puree, mix, and freeze. Or do you freeze separately and mix before feeding?

Thanks in advance! & feel free to add any tips or advice!
