My OB's office was like "well, it's your choice" but the endocrinologist was adamant that it was a bad idea. I had read lots about people staying on it and I was comfortable with it. But she insisted that since metformin crosses the placenta it had potential to be harmful and insulin is the only diabetes medication proven safe during pregnancy.
