I've heard it's extremely common in Koreans (like 90+%) so I'm surprised I'm not, plus DH is, so I'd expect our someday LO to be lactose intolerant. But it didn't hit him until his 20s which I think is common, so I'm not expecting it to show up early.

I am mildly lactose (milk sugar) intolerance and LO is casein (milk protein) intolerant! :-(

We figured it out because her poops were always mucousy. Once I stopped eating cheese, the mucous went away.

@littlebittyhouse: Interesting! Our ped did tell me if I wanted to avoid K getting Eczema like I have to cut our dairy. I have dairy so little though (besides in ice cream ;) that I have never really done a dairy-free diet).

@T-Mom: That's probably true. I think DH didn't develop it till later either.

i'm lactose intolerant, but only developed it in college when I basically stopped drinking milk. I heard this is fairly common among Asians. My kids don't have any signs of it, yet. I think it might have been a little to early to say if Baby K is lactose intolerant. But maybe kind of keep tabs on your dairy intake and see if that correlates with anything funky in her diapeys :-)

After LO was dignosed with MSPI, I went dairy/soy free to continue nursing and realized that I actually have an intolerance! Despite being a new mom I have more energy and feel better than I have in years...

Looking back, LO started showing signs of an intolerance around 3 weeks. Started with baby acne and turned into a full body rash with eczema patches :/

DH is lactose intolerant and I'm not, so far LO isn't. She's 20 months old and has no issue with milk, she drinks cows milk all the time. DH didn't develop lactose intolerance until he was older, so I do wonder if that will happen to her too...... but it seems to happen to the boys in our families, not girls.

If you or your SO are Lactose-Intolerant, did your LO have lactose-intolerance too? How & when did you find out if your LO was?

DH is lactose-intolerant, but I am not. One day I had 3 cream pan croissants, and I noticed K had a LOT of poopy diapers. But it was also during the first week, where the poop changes colors and she was already getting rid of a lot of stuff from just being born. But it made me wonder if too much cream intake by me could cause the gassiness and poops?
