We have a capresso electric kettle. We've had it for 10 years, still going strong looks so nice on the counter. We love it and use it for the French press all the time

kettle, let boil, pour some boiling into the press to warm up the glass, then let rest for a minute. pour course grounds in, pour water in to soak all the grounds, let sit for 4 minutes and then press. yum. i'm waiting on mine right now.

@regberadaisy: so, I made the mistake of using fine ground they were at the bottom of the coffee cup. So gross.

Kettle until just before a boil. Stir with a plastic spoon (*Tip: never use a metal stirring utensil in your glass french press!*) We don't even set a timer.. just stir again around 4-5 minutes, press slowly, and voila! We'll never go back to drip again. Also, buy an inexpensive grinder and grind your own beans. Takes very little time and is totally worth it!

@simplyfelicity: I do the same as @ldh112. I just let the water heat until kettle whistles, turn off the heat to let it calm down a minute and then pour into the French press.

After you heat the water in a kettle and it boils, wait for the bubbles to go away and then pour the water in. Or as it's been said, aim for 200 degrees :) let it sit for around 3 1/2 or 4 minutes before straining.

Boil in a kettle or sauce pot!
It's best to use coarse ground coffee. We have a Bodum and love it.

Electric kettle! Living in England, it is a must have - every single house I have ever walked in has an electric kettle and it makes French press coffee so easy and fast!

We have an electric kettle and it heats water to the exact correct temperature. I think it was $20 or $30 from Target. DH is a coffee snob so he uses filtered water we keep in the fridge. It only takes a minute or two to heat up.

Kettle on the stove, like PPs have said. I LOVE my French press and use it every single weekend (and make iced coffee for the week when it is warm out)

in a teapot! you want it very hot but not quite boiling bc then it makes the coffee kinda bitter IMO. i know the way my teapot sounds so i can tell when it's almost boiling but not quite. also if you have a thermometer you can test until you get the hang of it - 200 degrees is the perfect temp!

I've read that you can microwave cold-brew coffee. which I love, because it's less acidic and heartburn for me! maybe I'll try that..

Another vote for kettle, though my favorite is using the French press to cold brew iced coffee in the summer.
