They said I would lose some money from the deposit if I didn't re-paint, which at that time I would rather have someone else do it than deal with it myself! As a landlord, my lease specifically addresses painting/altering walls and if someone painted I would definitely keep a portion of their security deposit, sorry! I've never painted in any apartment I lived in. A friend didn't repaint her walls, had like two rooms, and they ended up charging her way more then she thought it was going to be. I painted one time and repainted before I moved out. Never did it again after that. Total ripoff, no way it would have cost that much and we would have done it ourselves but I thought the lease said that we could paint and didn't have to repaint upon moving. So we lost some of our deposit anyway. I was getting rid of wallpaper that was in there and he was going to take that down anyway. In the townhouse we're in now, I didn't do any painting. But I think that was a unique situation. I think we might lose $150 from our deposit if we leave LO's room painted lavender but I think that might be a well spent $150!
